Big thank you to Vets from SUST Orphan Animal Hospital Hurghada who came to assist residents of OrientalCoast MarsaAlam, whom on their own time & expanse are resolving issues with stray animals in the compound. Achievements this time:
4 castrated & vaccinated dogs from the compound
2 castrated & vaccinated dogs from MarsaShagara camp in coop with Baladi Watch
2 small puppies removed from OrientalCoast sent to shelter in Hurghada, in search for new home
( on last issue we will do a separate post )
There has been many residents involved, all in their own capacity. Some by donations, some by logistics, some by assisting, some by making coffee, many by kind words and all your assistance is beyond appreciated. Sust Hurghada is doing all the efforts free of charge, our only costs are transportation, accommodation & food for those lovely people, which this time was covered by:
Monica, Anna, Nadia, Samantha, Christina, Tomas, Mirko & Moni
Thank you ever so much!
We will soon share the maps, with where castrated dogs are, so all residents are aware.
Dear neighbors… Below please find video from #1 "Catch / Castrate / Vaccinate / Release" action done by animal friendly resident of OrientalCoast in cooperation with NGO BlueMoon Hurghada. As many of you know by now, since we are living in the compound in the middle of the desert, we need to keep population of stray animals ( cats & dogs ) under control to keep our environment safe & also to minimise animal suffering around. Effect of such action like today in a long run will be less wild animals in the area, with ones walking around clearly tagged in the ear by a plastic tag with a number ( which will indicate that dog is safe & vaccinated ) & in a meantime, castrated dogs & cats will protect area not allowing more animals to enter, thus working as a live fence. It is a long term project to catch, castrate & vaccinate as many as possible, but we have officially started. Project is fully funded by BlueMoon Hurghada in terms of all Doctors work, all vaccinations & medicine needed. Our ( residents ) only costs are transportation cost of VET to OrientalCoast & back to Hurghada ( & Dr’s stay over & food ), which make input minimal. Swiss NGO CatsNeedsUs already offered to help with funds, so did many of the residents & anyone wish to participate on this is welcome. We will always put week in advance notice of next planned action, so for all of you who wish to help, you can prepare your times accordingly. In a meantime, this will be fantastic opportunity also for a private pets owners to schedule a VET visit for your loved ones. Outcome: 1 Castrated & Vaccinated Dog, 1 Castrated & Vaccinated Cat. GREAT Thank you goes to: Anna / Thea / Monika / Gabriele / Mirko / Dr.Mahmoud / BLUEMoon / CatsNeedsUs. Our other intention will be to try to find home for as many of stray around as possible. Recently we have saved on small puppy whom have lost a mum, but have found a new loving family. P.S.: Please collect images of stray animals around & notify us on locations, it will he
