Want to see a Beast…..
Chaos Degantis Kraujas "Sam"
Owner & trainer Günter Mertens
In the words of Mr. Mertens:
This is a super fast high drive energetic dog with hard and stubborn character. Indifferent to people, other animals and environmental distractions but not a pet dog! He's an honest dog but he will not accept a stranger to command or dominate him. No handler aggression even during the hardest corrections.
He's absolutely not the best sport dog, he's too hard and too stubborn to have a lot of wins on trials and probably I'm not the best handler/trainer of the world. Most people would never compete with such a dog but my aim is to compete with a hard strong dog and to show that it's possible. And it's thanks to my teammates at Hoboken Vinkenvelden I could keep the dog still in competition. It's my kind of dog and I will never accept a lesser dog to obtain more points.
From genetic point of view, he passes his qualities to his offspring. We have at the moment 3 dogs from him in preparation for Belgian Ring and we start to know the characteristics of the dogs, we recognize a lot of him in his children, especially his honesty to the handler, speed in the attacks, muzzle work and object guarding. Also I hear the same from the breeders and owners from his offspring.
He did for the moment about 50 trials in NVBK, 4 years competition, every year qualified for the national championships. (5th in 2013, 8th in 2014,10th in 2015 and 6th in 2016) Two wins, one trial cat 1 in 2015 in Ranst (353/400) and one trial in 1016 in Dilsen cat 1 (373/400) Highest score was in 2013 his first trial cat 3 in P**l (379/400) Next season starting his third year in cat 1.
Best exercise is the independent work during object guarding (decoy and muzzle work on civilian), never lost his object in 50 trials.
