Heatstroke PSA
Keep your pets cool during hot weather.
Pets regulate their body temperature differently from humans. They rely on panting to cool down instead of sweating. They are more susceptible to overheating in hot weather.
Provide air conditioning and/or fans if possible and if outside, seek shade. Always have plenty of clean, fresh, cold water available.
Signs of a heatstroke in dogs can include: rapid breathing, excessive drooling, dry mucous membranes, bright red gums, rapid heart rate, and hyperventilation.
Seek emergency veterinary care if you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke. Your veterinarian can help by providing intravenous fluids and running teats to determine if any organs were affected.
Stay cool! 😎 🐶
