Meet Mona who is currently up for adoption.

Mona is a ten month old mastin who will be a very big dog, but she is a gentle giant.

Mona was found abandoned and was underweight with some bad sores and scratches on her. She was quite nervous when found and does have a tendency to cower at times (particularly when given the 'no' command in a stern voice) so she may have been abused in the past. However, I have only had her for three weeks and this is improving hugely already. She is learning to trust us and will walk towards us without a problem, with her tail-wagging and seeking attention - she is now enjoying being stroked and loves being brushed!!

She shares a pen with another mastin (Lisa) and they get on very well together regarding sleeping and playing. Mona mixes with all of the other dogs (male and female and pups) without a problem. She tends to ignore the pups and is quite happy wandering around the grounds exploring on her own. She is starting to learn some basic commands. Mona stays outside of the house so not house-trained but has selected a 'toilet area' in her pen which she always uses so I'm sure toilet-training will be easy.

Mona does have an issue with food possession - presumably as a result of going without food for sometime. She will growl if a dog approaches her whilst she is eating and she has tried to steal Lisa's food when she has finished her own. We are working on this and, again, have seen a big improvement over the last week.

She has improved so much in three weeks that I'm confident she will shortly be a well-balanced and happy dog who will make the most wonderful pet for someone with enough space to house a giant dog!

Meet Hannah who is currently up for adoption

Hannah is a six month old Podenco and is full of life, she doesn't walk she bounces!! Hannah will be a medium-sized dog in height and very slim.

Hannah was found alone in the campo when she was 3-4 months old and was badly malnourished. However, she is one of the happiest dogs I have ever known - her tail is wagging from the moment she wakes until she goes to sleep again. She gets on well with all other dogs (adults and puppies) and wants to play all of the time. She eats well, knows some basic commands and is house-trained.

She is extremely lively and active and bounces, rather than walks, all of the time!! She is like a little clown with a smile on her face all of the time. Despite her poor start in life, she is very sociable with everybody and loves to be fussed. The only time she is slightly anxious is when she is picked up but even that is improving. She is an adorable little girl who needs lots of space and preferably other dogs to play with.

Meet Ruby who is currently up for adoption.

Ruby is a six month old Cruzado. She is a bundle of fun with big floppy ears and a very cute face. She will grow to be a small to medium-sized dog.

Ruby's mum was very undernourished and as a consequence, Ruby had deformed front legs as one bone in each leg had stopped growing resulting in the other bone curving around. This didn't affect her movement at all but she could not walk long distances. Two months ago, she had an operation to correct this which has been completely successful and her legs are now 90% straight. She will always have a slight curve to her front legs and may require a second operation as she grows. However, she is now completely mobile and has the same stamina levels as any other dog of her age.

She is very friendly and plays with all of the other dogs (puppies and adults) without any problems. She eats well, knows a few basic commands she is house-trained. She can be a bit shy of strangers initially but once she knows you, she is very sociable, loves cuddles and gives lots of kisses. She is a very happy little pup who is always wagging her tail! If you wish to know more about this very sweet dog, or if you wish to donate money to assist ASAP with the cost of Ruby's second operation please contact us.
