Good morning from Arwen. Today I went for a leisurely potter with Mum while Dad took the big boys across country to meet us. I enjoyed my sniffs and being out with Hugo and this walk us easy on my feet too. I still can't see or hear much but Mum says I did well. We met Dad and the rest at the cafe for drinks and tostada, then I stayed with Mum having a snooze on the mat while Dad brought the car round.

Well it was pretty 'orrible and cold today when we started out on our walk. Mum said "Not a good day for photos". We all had our lovely warm fleeces on to start with but Fozzie and I were racing around so much Mum took them off because we got hot. It didn't rain so that was a Bouncy Bonus!

It was a nice change of scenery and smells today so I was really legging it up and down the hills. Fozzie rejoined us occasionally and the others just wandered about. Pip was warm but not impressed at the lack of sunshine, especially when we got to the cafe! However the arrival of tostada perked him up 😂

Mum roped us to the bus stop when she went to pay the bill to avoid (as far as possible) entanglements with roaming cats. She said she was hoping the bus to Almeria would have been past and picked us up by the time she got back! I'm so offended 😡

When we got home it was time to have breakfast and fight for the prime spot in front of the gas fire!

I HAVE NEWS!

I'm back from the vet with my man bits intact! Woohoo! 😁😁😁😁

I wasn't at all keen in being put in the car without my pack. I squeaked and whined as we drove off but Dad kept going. When we arrived in Sorbas, we had to stand outside for a while because there was a queue waiting. A dog who lives opposite (that looks a bit like me!) came out to tell me he wasn't impressed. I just wagged at it. I also saw 2 cats and didn't bother them either. Well I am the Amazing SuperSan!

When we got in, Dad told Eduardo he was worried. Eduardo suggested that because I'm pretty old and in my state of health we try a male doggy contraceptive implant. So I didn't need anything chopped off 😱 - just a small capsule in the back of my neck which will last 6 months. Dad's very relieved. I wasn't over keen on the operation either!

Mum's looked it up and it appears well tested and as safe as these things can be.

Dad's saved me tates, he says 😂

I'm now recovering from the terrible ordeal of being taken to the vets without my pack and being denied breakfast 🍳☕🍞.

A cold and breezy outing for the Fleeced And Fabulous Five today. Featuring Henry The Toxic Avenger (Mum says it's a must-watch silly cult film!), Fozzie the Blue Thunder, Pip The Black Pirate, Santos of The Purple Sage, and Hugo the Last Starfighter 😁

And Mum with windblown hair 😂

Arwen didn't want to go anywhere - Dad did try....

It was a nice long walk today where nobody got lost or terrified any Hoomans. Just lots of leg stretching in the bushes. It was followed by almost no breakfast! Noooooooo! Thats because I'm at the vets later to have my man-bits removed after the ridiculous performance over the in-season mastins on the farm behind us.

Dad doesn't really want to but he knows it's the best thing - he's concerned it might change me. Mum says it might help me keep weight on and not to worry because I'll still be His Royal Numptiness!

Good morning - Arwen here reporting in from Murcia. We arrived here after a long car journey and I went for a little walk before my appointment. It was cold so I'm glad Mum had my fleece jumper.

I really didn't want to go in and kept trying to escape. The nice lady Laura came to get us and she did some tests on my eye first. Then Alejandro arrived to do the eye photographs - and I was very wriggly so that took a few minutes!

The hemorrhage in my good eye has nearly gone. I have to endure one more month of eye drops and then they will hopefully scan and test my retina under sedation to see if it's ok. If it is then they think the cataract is operable.

Here I am at the cafe next door where Mum's had very strong coffee to make up for a 2.5 hour journey at ridiculous-o-clock! I've had some cake and we'll be heading home very soon. (After Mum's had another coffee and I've had another wee and a drink).

Mum made 2 more cakes yesterday with leftover mincemeat using the sun to power the oven. Apparently ovens are hungry things so they're only on when we can run it without draining the solar batteries. Today she's sloshing them with rum and sherry before they get wrapped and go back in the cupboard for a few days. (These are the bottoms). We aren't allowed this cake because it's full of toxic raisins and alcohol. I don't eat cake anyway (bleh) but the others are a bit upset. She hopes they turn out as good as the last one - which the guys here and Ana the 'Foreman' have all had pieces of. Dad's going to have some happy 'tea times' 😋

This morning it's all about me, Norty Santos.
Dad got us ready for a Mum walk again, and he stayed at home to do various Dad jobs, look after Arwen and be on hand to assist the guys installing our new water tanks.

Mum set off with The Fabulous Five, which unfortunately soon became the Fabulous Four. One minute I was there in sight, then 'p**f' I wasn't! 🏃💨

Mum walked a bit further up the hill, calling and calling 📢 scanning the valley and hillsides for a wayward podenco but she couldn't see anything. Or hear anything. After a few minutes, she called Dad to tell him I'd disappeared. He said a few very sweary words down the phone, pulled his boots on and came to help. Dad said "Hes never going off lead again!" (but he didn't mean it really.)

Anyway after about another 5 minutes I came plodding down the hill from behind, panting furiously 💨💨💨 and looking a bit unsteady. Dad swatted my head playfully and Mum said "where've you been you idiot?" They had no idea where I'd been and neither have I, but it was obviously a long way away because it took me ages to get back. I just got absorbed in all the lovely smells and proper lost. ❓🧭

Mum decided to take me round the rest of the walk and I was a very good boy with no wanderings off this time. She stopped at the big pine tree to collect all the fresh cones that came down in the high winds (17) and then we all headed home for breakfast.

Well the day started early with a Hugo Alarm at 0615 to alert everyone that his old man bladder needed emptying. Mum and Dad weren't very pleased! After a slump on the bed and coffee ☕, Mum put us in fleeces because it was so cold outside there was frost on one of the vet beds. However by the time we'd got up the hill into the sun Mum was having to take layers off so off came all the coats!

Much fun was had by all, with various rabbit chases, digging and scanning for lifeforms. That was especially true for me today, because Banana Boy here decided to go walkabout on the way back. I went down the valley side and disappeared! Mum called and called, then went back up to where she'd 'lost' me, and saw me right in the valley bottom near Francisco's cortijo - plodding about looking a bit bemused!

Mum set off down the track at high speed to find me, by which time we'd crossed over and I'd gone back up the valley behind her. Silly Santos. I caught up with her a few moments later and boy was I glad to be reunited. Mum called me a Bird Brain and we headed home without any more 'events' 😂

Breakfast didn't last long because I'd seriously earned it and I'm absolutely knackered!

It's a bit noisy here today because Edin and Miguel are here to install off grid water tanks. They're digging up the ground for a concrete platform. Mum and Dad are having it done as a back up to the ground well. It's not ruining my beauty sleep though 💤💤💤💤

Good afternoon! It was a late-ish start today but that was good because it had time to warm up a bit! Mum started off putting us in fleeces but by the time she'd done that the sun was over the hill and it was getting warmer - so it was fleeces off and light coats on. But by the time she was 5 minutes into the walk she was taking them off as well, because she needed to disrobe too. Perfect temperatures for Big Bouncing In The Bushes (which Mum says sounds like a place in the Cotswolds) 😁 And just where she stopped to remove coats we saw the first almond blossom this year 🌸. Wow😍!

I galumphed all over the place today trying to follow Fozzie but he's a bit speedy 🚴三 so I did get left behind a bit. However Mum knows that wherever Fozz is I will be close by, as much as my wonky legs will allow. Mum says I'm now really fit for an ill dog and she's going to ask Auntie Tina for a refund or exchange because apparently I wasn't expected to have long left. How insulted am I?

We nearly had a Cat-ccident with a big black cat that clawed Henry's face a few months ago. Fozzie was off in the bushes to the left and I suddenly shot across Mum's path, so she quickly looked where I'd gone to see Fozzie catching up to it. It's a big cat and it whopped Fozzie across the nose! He stopped, Mum shouted and he left it alone. I think he was a bit shocked that it had sharp bits! It went up a tree so we gathered at the bottom, but as it wasn't coming down we trotted off back to Mum.

We met Dad and Arwen near the end of the walk and because there wasn't any wind we had some cafe time 🥐☕☕. Dad had a big fat tostada to himself for his breakfast - greedy - and now he's got a little pot belly full of bread. As usual, I didn't eat anything, stood around getting bored and then tried to have an upper-class wee on an expensive car. Dad wouldn't let me though - it's so unfair!

I ate a huge breakfast and I've since been sleeping on the beds outside. Dads busy Dadding in the workshop, and Mum's going to make another Christmas cake from leftover 'funny' mincemeat, which isn't at all like proper dog mincemeat. I mean it's got fruit in it - 🤮. Actually she's making it extra rich with more spices, alcohol, fruit, butter and black treacle. Then I think tomorrow she'll add the dry ingredients and eggs and bake it. If it's sunny enough.

Newsflash! We had some rain last night! The trees are feeling happy today 😁. Mum says we need about 3 months of steady rain to make up for what we didn't get in the last 2 years. I don't think we'd like that very much (Pip definitely wouldn't!) but our olives would.

Mum took Arwen and Hugo on a small walk today for some different sniffs for Arwen. We did a Dad Stomp across the hills to meet them. We love Dad Stomps because he goes fast and it gets us all energised and excited 😁. Mum did a slow walk making sure Arwen didn't wander off and could follow her voice. It was cold today so Hugo had a coat on and Arwen was wearing a toasty hot rod fleece. (We were in our lightweight waterproofs too, to keep out the breeze.)

Dad got to the cafe before Mum, but it was just too cold and windy to sit outside. That's ok for me because I just stand around refusing tasty treats anyway like a proper numpty! So he walked back to meet Mum near the car and we headed home for breakfast 🍳☕🍞. I ate 3 scoops and didn't leave any!

Dad's dashed off to get a new bookshelf and legs from IKEA. The legs are for our bedroom furniture not for Dad - I can safely say there's nothing wrong with his legs after this morning! 😂

We're not sure if Dad got any photos of us zooming around the countryside, but here are Mum's of The Oldsters.

We're all now cosy indoors because the wind has really picked up and it's horrible 😱. Brrrrr!

Good afternoon friends! Mum took us out on a lovely sunny and warm walk this morning. There are olive harvesters working on the farm but Mum took us on a route to avoid them - because we don't want 2 idiot podencos racing across their nets trampling the olives, do we? 😂 'No we don't' says Mum 'because then we'd be in the farmer's bad books!'

Well I was having a monster run around today. I disappeared a few times but made my way back eventually (panting heavily 💨💨💨💨) so Mum figures I must have gone some distance and been having a lot of fun. On the way back we were having a drink when we met Cesar in his pick up, turning into the gate. He was all smiles as usual, asking if we were out for a walk 🚶 Mum said yes we were and that it was a bit hot. (Which it was, Mum was sweating!) Cesar nodded and said 'yes, but next week will be cold', wished us Happy New Year and headed off to supervise the olive pickers.

Dad was out with Arwen today - he went to pick up some parcels and took her for a small walk near Uleila, which she enjoyed.

They weren't at home when we got back so we scoffed our breakfast and flaked out. Then Dad arrived with parcels, Arwen and some wild rocket he'd picked from the fields. Mum said she's amazed it's even growing, because we've had so little rain. When it does rain in spring we get fields and fields of it, far more than Dad can eat. Mum makes rocket pesto if we collect lots because it doesn't stay fresh for long.

Arwen's getting very picky in her old age because she only wanted to walk on the tarmac with Dad and didn't want her special kidney diet food. Mum put our normal food down for her instead and she ate it all, the contrary baggage. I think they might mix it with our food and not bother with an expensive special diet for her again!

The sun disappeared and it went cold, so we came in from the garden, and The Three Podmigos have taken up prime positions in front of the gas fire!

Good morning, it's Arwen here. Santos has lent me his page for an update.

I've been very reluctant to walk anywhere for the last 2 days despite encouragement. I don't like going on my own. It's very upsetting. However this morning we all got in the car and Mum took me and Hugo for a WalkSniffPotter while Dad did a power stomp with the Fit Boys💪.

I enjoyed my trundle with Hugo - there were lots of sniffy sniffs and I managed to follow Mums voice pretty well. I did go off at a tangent a few times but Mum was always there to get me back on track. Hugo enjoyed eating grass and sicking it back up in the middle of the road! I don't know what it is about grass on that circuit, but it's obviously very tasty 😋

We walked round the town square where Mum chatted to a few people who asked why there were only 2 of us so she explained. Then we'd just got to Cafe Avignon and settled when the others arrived 😁. We enjoyed cheesy tostada and Mum and Dad had coffee followed by hot chocolate.

I was tired, so I stayed with Mum while she packed up and paid the bill. Dad took the others back to the car and collected us about ten minutes later.

I have my next eye check in Murcia on 10th January, vehicle is next Wednesday. Mum and Dad are really hoping my good eye can be made to see again.

Guys, Mum wants to share an important message about 'lost' dogs in the UK.
Here she is:

"A reminder!

Fake profiles have taken to posting pictures of supposedly injured dogs or lost elderly on hundreds or thousands of local groups, forums and social media pages across the country. The same pictures are cropping up anywhere from Southend to Scotland, just with slightly different words. 😳

They are obviously
1. fishing for people's details
2. Trying to get thousands of shares

Once they get enough shares they change the post to a dodgy service or product, and it looks like you've recommended it.

When you see something like this....

ALWAYS do this:

- click on the original post and read it carefully

- look at the name of the poster

- check the profile of the author of the post.

They will have a fairly recently created profile (hours or days old)
Their name might be obviously ridiculous, made up or badly spelled
They have no pics and no / almost no friends
They will have joined the group or page a few hours or days previously.
The post itself might have lots of bad spelling and grammar

Don't get caught out.
Only share if it's coming from a genuine rescue centre or veterinary practice that you can verify independently."

We hope this helps reduce the problem and raise awareness.
Santos' public service announcement is over!

The day started on a high note with Pip being sick in his pod 😂. Guess it's wash day 😂

It's a glorious sunny day so Mum took us on the farm walk again so she could show you where Mary's is. She said she also got photos of silly podenco heads, but that can't be helped! Occupational hazard, apparently.

She's off to IKEA to check out the furniture and the marketplace, for ideas of bits and pieces to go in the cottage. Mum already had a couple of extra light bulb moments💡- garlic press, heat stands and a stove hoover in case anyone is daft enough to come in winter and needs a log fire 🔥. Personally I think she's only going for meatballs, cake and endless free coffee refills 😂

So if anyone has any more great ideas for things other holiday cottages tend to miss, drop them below!

(We'll be busy sunbathing)

Ok guys, Mum needs your help.
She's putting together a big list of everything to go in Mary's - furniture, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, cutlery, crockery.....

She wants to know please:
When you go to a holiday cottage, what thing or things do you sometimes need that they often don't have?

(Apart from a Santos, of course 😁)

Mum was out locally this morning with The Fleeced And Furious Five! Look at me, I'm The Purple Prowler!
With Pirate Pip, Fozz The Blue Bomber, Henry Lean Mean Green Machine and Hugo Starpod.

I really look like a proper pack member now (thanks to Sammy's Pet Poppins). Mum says there's another jumper coming soon from Forest Fleece in Essex but she won't tell me what it is.

I tried to put holes in it but I was unsuccessful 😂

And you might notice that Mum's had all her hair cut off! She said it was too thick and difficult to wash, condition and manage and she was tempted to go for a complete buzz cut. She still hasn't decided whether to go ultra short - apparently a 'Jamie Lee Curtis' is how it was before.

It was grey and cold to begin with but we've now got blue sky so I think there might be sunbathing later.

Happy New Year!
🎉🎊🍾
