EMERGENCY LIFE SAVING SURGERY NEEDED FOR A YOUNG MUM'S CHANCE OF LIFE
For five weeks, this gorgeous young abandoned Beagle/Pointer mum suffered an agonising pr*****ed uterus after giving birth alone in the Spanish countryside, yet she still searched for food to care for her four puppies. She was brought to our attention after neighbours spotted her between Comares and Benamargosa and a group of us managed to safely capture mum and all four pups. We took them for immediate medical attention to Animal Friends veterinary practise in Velez Malaga where mum underwent surgery. She was severely infected, in pain and underweight. All were treated for flea infestation and given medication for worms. The puppies were very undernourished and prescribed additional medication. Specialist food has also been brought for the dogs totalling $100 (receipt provided).
Unfortunately mum's initial surgery failed and a second surgery including the use of stitches was performed. This cost €155. Unfortunately, during the night the dog became quite distressed and it was clear that something wasn’t right. She was taken first thing in the morning back to the vets who said the dogs only options were a specialist operation at a university hospital or to be put to sleep.
At Malaga Animal Rescue we believe every animal we care for deserves the absolute best chance of life. Therefore there was no question that we would be taking the dog to a university hospital.
The dog is currently in surgery as we speak undergoing an emergency hysterectomy at the world-renowned hospital AniCura Bahía de Málaga Referencia Veterinaria of Carlos Macias,
a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons specialist. Once there, the surgeon told us she would have died if we hadn't brought her as she could not urinate unaided. The cost of her emergency surgery is €813.76 (receipt provided).
Due to the delicate nature of the dogs condition, it has been decided that to give her the best chance of survival she should stay in hospital with a sitting nurse and doctor so any complications could be dealt with immediately. She will be staying for 3 nights. The cost of which is estimated at €50 / night (this is yet to be paid for - a receipt will be posted).
The dog and puppies will be fostered by us until they can all be safely homed.
In the mean time, any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. MAR are a not-for-profit independent collective and felt totally on donations. We know that times are really tough at the moment and nobody is exempt from the challenges currently faced with the cost of living, but even €5 makes a huge difference and allows us to keep on rescuing and providing the best care possible for all animals that come to us.

Some good work done today locating and securing a dog and 4 pups who have been spotted over the last few weeks in a terrible state and in need of veterinary care.
The dog is in need of immediate medical intervention to save her life as she is severely prolapse. The bill is estimated to be upwards of €500.
One puppy seems to be unwell and is going for tests.

Two kittens rescued and in need of a home. One boy, one girl. Around >8 weeks old. Currently in a refuge with no access to rehoming facilities and so MAR are here to help find these beautiful babies a home.
After days of pursuit, we have finally managed to safely secure two puppies that had been dumped. They are now being taken care of by MAR and will need to be rehomed in the near future.
These gorgeous pups have been living on their own in the mountains for at least 3 weeks. One puppy had over 50 ticks on rescue and still counting.
Both between 5-7 weeks old.
Malaga Animal Rescue rely solely on donations. Your kind support means that we have been able to rescue, treat and rehome 19 dogs since 2021. With our newly crowdfunded kennels, we are motivated and looking forward to continuing to create new lives for unwanted animals ❤️

We took on a rescue that was heavily pregnant.
She gave birth to 5 healthy puppies as per the previous post. Here are a few more photos .
Mum is doing well and puppies are feeding perfectly.
These puppies will soon need vet checks, injections , worming , flea ect and this all comes with a hefty bill .

This lovely dog was taken in by us last week. Heavily pregnant, she birthed 5 healthy puppies last night! These puppies will be in need of a caring home.
This beautiful friendly girl was rescued by us on the 30th January. She was treated to a good bath and shave and already has a forever home awaiting her in the UK! Meet “Lady”
The rescued pregnant dog we took in last week has had 5 healthy puppies!
She was in such a bad way when we rescued her .
Her fur matted. Complete neglect.
Starving and scared .
We have given her an all over shave and treated her for some of the diseases she was subjected to.
We are now in the process of sending her to a forever home back in the UK

Well they have each been Homed in the UK . They went to their forever homes in October and this is the photos of them now with their new families.
It’s so lovely to see them thriving and being loved . To think if I hadn’t have rescued their mum and been there to hand rear these puppies , they wouldn’t be so happy and loved like they are now!
