Today we’re going to talk a little bit about us.
My name is Rita, founder of Mutt Dog & Co, and my daily inspirations, Vi and Chico.
I’ve always wanted to work with animals but didn’t quite know how. I considered becoming a veterinarian, but I wasn’t comfortable with seeing blood or animals suffering. So, for a while, I ventured into hospitality. As much as I liked it, it wasn’t truly what I loved or the path I was meant to follow.
I’ve always had animals at home, of all kinds: chinchillas, cats, fish, turtles, dogs, guinea pigs, etc, and even a little chick. I’ve always known that being surrounded by animals was my path.
In 2018, I had two dogs (Ziggy and Becky) and two cats (Ronron and Jamie, who I still have) and a friend of mine asked me to take care of a 6-month-old puppy for two weeks. Of course, I said yes. She was a loving, cheerful, well-behaved dog, the smartest I’d ever seen, with sweet eyes. Her name was Vitória. After the two weeks, my friend asked if I wanted to keep her. By then, I was already smitten with her sweetness, so I immediately said yes. She was mine. I’ve always said, and still say that Vi has a look in her eyes that I recognize from somewhere, and that she was, indeed, my destiny.
That’s when I started Mutt Dog & Co, I was creating things purely for fun and as a hobby, as I was still working at the hotel. But after a year, I decided to dedicate myself to it 100%, and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.
Mutt Dog is a one-woman brand with two dogs.
I’ve survived with a lot of hard work, dedication, and love. It’s not an easy path, but I do it with all my heart!
I want to thank everyone who supports Mutt Dog & Co. You’re not just buying cute and unique accessories for your dog; you’re helping make a dream come true
