I always say, check the ingredients. Just because the vet recommends it doesn't mean it's the best for your dog!....

❗What’s worse than a rubbish dog food? One that’s marketed as a premium, skin-friendly diet to worried owners.

Take a look at the ingredients: wheat, maize, more maize, artificial antioxidants… all things you’d expect in a budget food. And the meat (well, sort of)? NINTH on the list!

It would be fair to assume this was a low-quality budget food but this... This is Royal Canin Maxi Dermacomfort, a food specifically designed for dogs with skin issues - many of which are diet-related in the first place.

At £70.99 for 12kg (RRP on the Royal Canin site), what exactly are you paying for? The ingredients… or the branding and hefty vet markups for pushing it?

What do you think - a fair price or just smart marketing? And, would you ever consider feeding this to your dog?
