The barnowl. Tyto alba
The barnowl lives mostly in barns and churches. They are 34-36 cm high and their wingspan is 90-98 cm wide.
They are the only owls that not have stripes. Typical is the heart shape face.
Females are bigger than males.
Barn owls are on the brink of extinction. So we have to treasure them.
They eat mostly mouse. All kind of mouse. So they are valuable to contain mouse plagues.
The female raises alone her young and feeds them. The male hunts for the food and brings it to the nest. The young owls stay 3 months with the parents.
