Our baby Dana is the last of our puppies waiting for a home offer. First vaccinations done and wormed. She will be a medium sized adult, both parents are at the shelter and can be seen. If you can offer her a loving home then please contact us 🙏

Boston, Lincolnshire doggie needing a new home 🏡

Jaffa is a 13 month old black and tan Dachshound currently in Boston, Lincolnshire, and is looking for his new home. Jaffa is a cheeky boy and loves being out in the garden, playing and getting fuss. He would be better with another dog (although we’ve only seen him with other dachshunds) as he doesn’t like being left by himself.
Jaffa has been neutered and although there are no children in his foster home, his family have advised us that he is good with children. Similarly, we haven’t seen him with a cat but we have been advised he is neutral towards them.
Jaffa is toilet trained and enjoys travelling in the car. He also loves going for walks , Jaffa he is scared of the vacuum.
We are looking for a home where Jaffa won’t be left for long periods of time and who can continue with the training started by his original family. He can get bored easily so loves mental stimulation. In true dachshund form, he can be quite vocal.

About a week ago I got a WhatsApp from Friends of Aprop with just two photos of this sweet little puppy that looked exactly like my Roscoe. She was due to be put back in the shelter after her adopters had decided they couldn’t keep her anymore. Before that she had been rescued by Aprop from a kill shelter and was found to have contracted Parvo, along with some of her littermates who sadly didn’t survive. She made a full recovery though and they thought they had her sorted with a forever home after her horrendous start, but sadly it wasn’t to be. Aprop found a foster home for her the very same day she was surrendered to the shelter and the following morning my mother in law went to visit her to see if she could be a good fit for us and our family. We deliberated over her for probably 10 mins after that meeting and that was it - she was going to make the long journey from Pego 🇪🇸 to Newcastle 🇬🇧.

She arrived on Wednesday, practically fell out of the van so disoriented after 2 days travelling with an amazing transport company who kept us up to date the whole way, and then her real journey began. I’m talking like she’s been here years because it feels like she has, when in reality she’s only been with us for 5 days.

The reason we wanted another dog was because the time felt right, Roscoe seemed lonely and missing some doggie companionship since we moved away from my sister and her rescue dog, who he used to see basically every day. He started to fade a little bit and we felt he needed a bit of spice in his life, even if that spice might get on his nerves some days!

Her name is Reina and she is 7 months old. She is a little firecracker and has definitely bought us that spice we all needed. We are just so grateful for APROP Protectora d'animals de Pego and everything they do. After 10+ years of finding and arranging adoptions from Spain to UK, it was finally my turn to experience it first hand… it was a breeze. It was definitely scary adopting a dog I had never met and trying to prepare for this new little family member that I didn’t even know what size harness to buy for. The uncertainty of it was undeniable but when you know you really do know and I am glad I trusted the feeling I got when I saw that first photo. We feel so privileged to have not one but TWO fantastic Spanish rescue dogs to bring so much love and joy to our lives.

I will be sharing our training stories on here when I can and will share all the things she teaches me 💖 Big thank you to Shona and Moira at Aprop, Dave the transporter and her fosterers who gave her a safe space when she needed it the most and definitely did some of the hard work for me when it comes to toilet training! 💖🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺

Hey guys! I have been a little quiet on here but I am still volunteering behind the scenes for shelters here in the UK and liaising with the shelters in Spain. At the same time I am volunteering for Association Catland Javea - a much needed charity that is building a cat shelter in Javea. If you have lived in or holidayed in Spain you would've for sure seen a colony of cats in the streets. They are overrun and Javea is particularly overwhelmed by the amount of abandoned and stray cats. Catland will provide a safe hub for these cats where they can receive treatment, recover and (for suitable cats) have a chance at finding a loving home. They do not receive funding from the town hall so they rely solely on donations from the general public to continue building the shelter.
