Gaviota es una preciosa galga que llegó hace una semana al refugio desde Badajoz. Como casi todos,su historia comienza siendo un descarte del mundo de la caza. Gaviota tiene 3 años y es muy cariñosa y simpática. Se lleva muy bien con otros perros, aunque no es apta con gatos.

Gaviota is a beautiful galga who arrived a week ago to the shelter from Badajoz. Like almost all of them, her story begins as a discard from the hunting world. Gaviota is 3 years old and is very affectionate and friendly. She gets along very well with other dogs, although she is not suitable with cats.

Anoche nuestros valientes miembros de equipo Sara, Julia y Esteban de SOS Galgos condujeron toda la noche para llevar a 8 galgos supervivientes del mundo de la caza desde nuestro refugio escuela en Barcelona hasta el aeropuerto de Madrid para volar a Chicago.
Hoy gracias a Daphne Legacy Tour y American Greyhound viajarán a Chicago donde empezarán una nueva vida llena de cariño.

Last night our brave activists Sara, Julia and Esteban from SOS Galgos drove all night to take 8 surviving galgos from the hunting world from our shelter in Barcelona to Madrid Airport to fly to Chicago.
Today thanks to Daphne Legacy Tour and American Greyhound they will travel to Chicago where they will start a new life full of tender loving care.
A big huge thanks to everyone for making this possible!

Our founder Anna Clements talks about the generous campaign donated by the agency @Millero_oconnor "We sh*t on Law 07/2023" to protest against the controversial Law which excludes all hunting and working dogs and leaves them completely vulnerable. To make matters worse, the hunting season has just begun and so has the massive abandonment of galgos.

En este país la ley no les protege, y en la mayoría de casos somos las protectoras las que nos responsabilizamos para evitar que puedan tener destinos peores... Luke tiene 9 años y Blancanieves 7 pero aún tienen muchos años por delante y buscaremos para ellos buenos hogares, donde puedan disfrutar de una vida llena de las atenciones y el amor que merecen. Snow White and Luke arrived at SOS Galgos this Wednesday, both handed over to our charity, sadly a form of abandonment. In this country the law does not protect working dogs and in most cases we are the ones who pick up the pieces, saving them from a worse fate... Luke is 9 years old and Snow White is 7 but they still have many years ahead and we will find them good homes, where they can enjoy a life full of the attention and love which they deserve. Peter, Morita, Flop, Suri, Tiniebla, Moreno, Paloma and Lula are already in Miami!
We had a mechanical problem with the van whilst driving to Madrid airport from Barcelona overnight and struggled to get to the airport in time for the dogs’ flight to Miami 😅. The dogs left safely thanks to the team’s dedication and hard work and to Ale's support at the airport and GIM’s amazing flight buddies Angie and Natalie.
As always, the team at Greyhounds in Motion were there to greet them at their arrival and ensure that each of these precious galgo survivors, once saved off the streets of Spain will now go to the most loving homes.
Ha pasado un año desde que SOS Galgos y Greyhounds in motion se embarcaron en una gran colaboración. Un año de gratitud hacia las madrinas de vuelo q Greyhounds in motion manda a SOS Galgos.
Para nosotros es realmente importante. El pasar tiempo con los perros para que los conozcan y su ayuda en la preparación es muy beneficioso.
De esta manera conocen las personalidades y rutinas de cada uno de los galgos que viajarán y ayuda a seleccionar otros para el próximo viaje.
Los ayudan a prepararse para su largo viaje, los acostumbran a los transportines y a los equipos de seguridad.
Cuando aterrizan en Miami, Greyhounds in motion, trabaja rápidamente para sacarlos de sus transportines de forma segura.
Juntos hemos salvado a muchos galgos. Nos llena de alegría ver como los galgos descubren que sus vidas nunca volverán q ser las mismas.

It has been one year since SOS Galgos and Greyhounds in Motion embarked on a great collaboration!Our partnership with Greyhounds in Motion is really important to us.
The flight buddies who come from their charity to take back galgos and podencos to Miami spend valuable time with the dogs to get to know them and help prepare them for their journey, and are therefore able to learn about the personalities and routines of each galgo leaving and help get to know the others for the next trip.
They help prepare them for their long journey.
They get them used to the crates.
They help with the fitting of safety equipment.
After the drive from Barcelona to Madrid when the dogs land in Miami, Greyhounds in Motion works quickly to get them safely out of their crates.
Anyone can join in and volunteer!
Together we have saved so many galgos.
What joy it gives us all to see the galgos in fabulous homes! It’s the icing on the cake!
