Our porcupine Nisha enjoys a scratch and a treat #
We are now closed for the winter season, our animals all buckled down cozily for the winter. We can still arrange private bookings and party events.

We believe in building the relationship between animal and human, especially with captive or domestic animals. No cage is big enough and can never be compared to the wild, taking this into account we don't want our animals scared and hiding behind bushes all day, as happens in many zoos and pet parks. So we encourage the interaction between animal and human and ensure that both get pleasure from the relationship. This is real animal environmental and social enrichment, the animals look excitedly for the next human ( and of course the treat they may sometimes bring), as the humans look forward to the next animal encounter. The animal is the leader in this relationship and the interaction is dependent on the mood and enthusiasm of whichever animal we are interacting with.
Through this interaction, we aim to educate people about the animal's natural habitat and instincts and the dangers of our disappearing forests, lakes and other habitats worldwide. This is especially true when interacting with young people and children. Seeing the look on a child's face when a bird lands on their finger or head is a joy to behold and you can see that the impact made will stay with them for many years. This, in turn, will make the children and some adults take more notice of disappearing natural habitats
The Pet Park, Lomamäen Lemmikkipuisto ( now a mini zoo ) was started very slowly and evolved from the owners Sharon and Mikko Auri family pets, the first pet was Bilbo the parrot who came into the family over 20 years ago. The pets gradually increased and a forest school for daycare centres was started in 1988. We opened up for schools, special needs centres and centres for the elderly. This lead to where we are today open to the public for 3 mths a year. The rest of the year the animals live peacefully with Sharon and Mikko and their extended family, the full-time animal carer and two exceptional guys who help with all the fixing up etc. We also have visits from organisations or private parties for example birthday or hen party etc.So although we are closed we still see different groups of people who want to enjoy the uniqueness that makes us the Lomamäen Lemmikkipuisto.
