Hi Local Friends! I want to introduce my new company, IHeartPets - Where Every Tail Wag Tells a Tale of Love and Comfort!

I am starting this company with Isabella Tarrant. We are both animal lovers to our core.

I have over 30 years' experience caring for various animals and Isabella has grown up always having a small zoo in the home.

Starting out, we will be serving Paulding County and some of the outlying areas, but there is room for expansion and growth.

Some of our services include:
Dog walking
Pet sitting (overnight)
Wellness checks
Hospice care
End-of-life planning
Pet photography
and so much more!

We can work with pretty much any animal having experience with dogs of all breeds and sizes, cats, reptiles, birds, small animals...you name it, I'm sure we can handle it.

I am still finishing up our website, but you can learn more about us at https://iheartpets.biz

I'm here for any questions you may have. Just drop me a line!

A good dog never d i e s. He always stays. He walks beside you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter’s drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way.

I love houseplants. I have a lot of them throughout my home. But I also have a lot of animals so that means I have to be careful which plants I select. While my animals don’t typically eat the plants, they do have their odd moments from time to time and the last thing I want is to accidentally poison one of my babies.

Here is a list of some of the most common toxic houseplants to animals.

Memories.

Macy came to me as a 6-year-old rescue in 2012 unable to walk. She was a gorgeous, and huge American Bulldog. One of the sweetest pups you have ever met. Within months I had her walking, running, playing, and living her best life.

She was an amazing companion for several years. Then we discovered a lump hidden in her “armpit”. You could only see it if she were laying a certain way, so I don’t know how long it had been growing before we discovered it. So, we took her to the vet.

We were not prepared for his answer.

Our girl was riddled with cancer. Our vibrant, vivacious, most loving giant baby was actually very sick.

We chose to keep her home and comfortable for as long as we were able.

Then she began coughing. More like hacking…like something was stuck in her throat. Back to the vet we went.

We were even more unprepared for this visit.

The tumor was so large, it was pressing against Macy’s trachea making it very difficult for her to breathe. It would only get worse and was affecting her quality of life. Surgery couldn’t guarantee that the tumor would be completely removed because of where it was and with her body being attacked by cancer, our best option was to say goodbye to our sweet girl.

Macy lay on the floor with her big goofy grin while my late husband, the vet, and I talked. I got down on the floor with her and laid with her. Her head was so huge, that there was a perfect spot between her eyes where my head fit snugly. It was our thing. So, I rested my head against hers and cried.

My happy girl kissed me over and over until the sedative took effect and she went to sleep. My head never left hers until her final breath.

I had no plans. I was not prepared to take her to the vet and not come home with her. But I knew that saying goodbye to her at that point was the right decision to make.

I miss my big goofy girl.

Dogs love their toys. But one sensitive German Shepherd soul turned down playtime with his dad after he accidentally got hit in the head with a toy. And by the looks of it, dad might not be forgiven anytime soon!

It was clear that the dog felt betrayed and wasn't about to give in.

Kitten season is fast approaching.

What do you do if you find a kitten?

This graphic from Kitten Lady is very helpful.

We love the Kitten Lady. Her educational videos on kitten care are must-see viewing when caring for these vulnerable tiny ones.

I love TikTok. You can find some of the cutest, funniest videos on there. As a pet mom, I have done the potty training thing more times than I can count over the years. I have never tried the bell though. I am pretty sure with my crew, I'd end up throwing it out the door because they'd never stop ringing it! LOL Check out this cute video of an older dog teaching the puppy how to ring the potty bell. https://www.tiktok.com//video/7074284569935039786?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id7042317670415697414

One of the hardest things about being a pet owner is losing our companions. And one of the toughest things about being close to someone who has lost a pet is knowing what to say.

The traditional, “I’m sorry” is always a safe bet but here are some other comforting words as well as what NOT to say. https://therainbowbridgedoula.com/what-to-say-when-someones-pet-dies/

There are comforting words to say when someone is grieving...and then there are things that are best left unsaid.
