A beautiful noise heard ‘round the world, Imperial Imdal+ (Ansata Imperial x Dalia+ by Morafic). What can I say about this legendary show horse and sire that hasn’t been said before? He was US National Reserve Champion Stallion, World Champion Stallion at the Salon du Cheval in Paris, TWICE Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Stallion, Twice US Top Ten Stallion and everywhere he showed he won the crowd and his fan base grew. Bred by Barbara Griffith at Imperial Egyptian Stud, foaled in 1982 and purchased by the woman who loved him the most, Barbara Vallee in 1983. Imperial Imdal+ was sired by Imperial’s foundation stallion, Ansata Imperial (Ansata Ibn Sudan x Ansata Delilah by Ansata Shah Zaman) and out of the great Dalia++ (*Morafic x *Romanaa II by Sameh). I’m not sure If Ansata Imperial was shown much as a youngster, but Imperial Imdal’s dam, Dalia++, was Scottsdale Show Champion Mare, US National Top Ten English Pleasure Horse and had many, many more championships in both halter and English Pleasure as well as her Legion of Merit.
To be blunt, Imperial Imdal+ was the BEST of Don and Judi Forbes breeding crossed on the BEST of Doug and Margaret Marshall’s breeding to produce arguably one of the two most prolific “second generation” straight Egyptian stallions ever born in the US. The other being Ruminaja Ali (Shaikh Al Badi x Bint Magidaa by *Khofo++). That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.
As a sire, his influence is felt world wide. Leased by Chen Kedar’s legendary Ariela Arabians in Israel from 1994 though 1997, Imperial Imdal+ came into his own as a world renown sire of world class foals during this time. Between the US and Israeli born foals, his blood breeds on in Poland, the US, Brazil, the Middle East, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and Europe. His daughters and granddaughters were not only great show mares but prolific producers as well. His sons, especially Laheeb ( x *AK Latifa by *Ibn Moniet El Nefous), out sired themselves foal after foal after foal. Look no further then the programs of Om El Arab, Ariela Arabians, Al Shaqab, Manny Viera, Michael Weinstein and so many others to see the full affect of Imperial Imdal’s.
Great horses, like fine wine and great paintings, only get better with time. And, the same can be said for Imperial Imdal’s+ influence around the world.
Jim Robbins for We Love Arabian Horses, rambling on about one of the great ones!
