Indoor caged birds benefit greatly from correct lighting and the many physiological benefits it brings, it can help prevent feather plucking and other habit forming destructive behaviours.
Avian vision allows them to see UVA as part of their visual spectrum and helps with food identification and species recognition. The UK has an amber weather warning in place for extreme heat.
Please ensure all your feathered friends are staying safe.
Make sure indoor birds have plenty of access to water, cool baths or a cool misting spray. Keep them away from windows which could increase the temprature even more.
For outdoor birds make sure they have a nice cool area and plenty of shade, keep replacing water regularly thoughout the day.
If you are spraying don outdoor enclosures with a hose just make sure you have drained off any water left sitting in the pipe first as this has the potential to be very hot and cause burns.
Above all else if you are worried at all seek advice from your vet.
