I never like to get complacent or to say that Melina is past the worst of her disease… but since her last treatment in September, she certainly seems brighter; her eyes have cleared and mouth ulcers have gone, so I’m really enjoying seeing her look and feel much healthier. I hope it lasts this time, I love her so much 🤞❤️

After a cold start to August, we’re finally getting some beautiful weather…

The monsters are enjoying it immensely, so much so that they both took their first proper swim in the sea at the weekend. A very proud mum moment which wasn’t caught on camera! I’ve worked out that they don’t like it when it’s windy with big waves… so the sea needs to be calm (and warm!) or they won’t even attempt to go in! My sensitive little Greekies 😂🙈❤️💙🇫🇷

Melina visited a specialist eye vet today... the results were not good. She has cataracts in both eyes (that can’t be removed) and she can only see shapes now in her right eye, due to all the inflammation.

The leishmaniasis is living in her eyes and has done irreversible damage 😢 we can only continue to put cortisone in her eyes and up the dose with the aim of managing it/keeping it under control for as long as we can, but at some stage she will become blind. It breaks my heart 💔 that some horrid little fly bit my girl all those years back & has caused so much unnecessary suffering.

The upside is that she’s in no pain and still remains so blissfully unaware and happy ❤️❤️❤️

A frosty 🥶 morning walk for these two. I love the sound of their little feet running through the crispy leaves... it warms my heart on a cold day 💙❤️🇫🇷

My little girl had two blood tests today taken from both legs 😳 as it’s that dreaded time of year when we check her leishmaniasis antibody levels.

After three years, they seem to remain quite high, not too high but certainly not low enough for my liking. It would be the best news to see the levels lowering 🤞

Her eyes are bad too and visibility is as low as 30%, so we’re off to an eye vet specialist soon to see what we can do. Despite it all, she’s such a happy little soul ❤️

She’s the absolute love of my life ... and has given me three years of pure, unconditional love.

I made a wish for her birthday that she stays happy & healthy, and continues to fight this horrible disease, so we can celebrate many more birthdays together ❤️❤️❤️

New home for this little one... Henny ❤️

Welcome to my family, Henny ❤️ this is the newest addition to my brood. She’s not in the best shape at the moment as she was picked on by an aggressive flock including a beast of a cockerel in her previous home that left her lame, drooped tail feathers and super skinny. The great news is that in just one week, she’s improved so much already. The suffering is over now little one, I hope you will be happy with us 🇫🇷❤️
