Small compilation video from our latest Group Class.
Real life training in realistic places. We went to Seaton Park, Aberdeen Beach, Hazlehead Park and my favourite, Union Square Aberdeen. We focussed on building engagement around heavier distractions, conditioning Heel, improving recall to name a few. All of these dogs have all had their fair share of issues ranging from reactivity, lead frustration, no recall and leash pulling, among other things. To say I am proud of them all including their owners is an understatement. It's such a pleasure to see how far the dogs and their owners have come in their training journey and how their relationships have flourished. Long may it continue, well done everyone🐾👏🤩🧡
My version of co-existing, explanation in the video😉
When I talk about the importance of co-existing this is what I mean😉
The 2 Labradors in the video both could not ignore dogs in the past, would pull on the lead and were stressed and overstimulated when they saw other dogs. Now, they are happily co-existing around them, living their best lives🐾😍🤩
Assessment with young Sheltie, Dill who is 1 years old.
Dill's owners had growing concerns about Dill's reactivity increasing towards humans, other dogs and obstacles outside their home, and rightly so.
By using the "123, throw food on the ground" method, they were unknowingly reinforcing the behaviour and rewarding Dill for his reactivity, encouraging him to erratically search the ground for food, and further agitate Dill with the harness.
After teaching Dill how to communicate with his owners properly through the use of leash pressure and marker conditioning, we were able to help Dill understand how to conduct himself calmly in the outside environment and be rewarded for making great decisions. Dill found this to be much clearer, which enabled him to be happier and enjoy his walks with his owners stress free! 🐾😍🤩
When we ask Floyd to show us his "Teeth", what a dude😬🦷😎😂❤️
Great start with little Spaniel, Brodie. Engagement coming on fab, so we moved onto introducing recall. Opted to condition Brodie to the whistle as 1, he's a Spaniel and 2, he finds the sound of the whistle exciting which will help to encourage Brodie to return to his owners associating the whistle with rewards.
After first starting in the garden, we then chose a new environment and had Highland to accompany us as another distraction. What a great job Brodie and his owners are doing, I'm very impressed with their commitment and training to Brodie to give him the best quality of life he deserves🐾🤩😍
When the other structured walk dogs start to respond to French, with Otis and Bailey🐾🇫🇷😍🤩
Lesson with Rougvie at Hazlehead Park accompanied by Jura and her owner and my own dog, Highland.
Stepping up with Rougvie's training by working around heavier distractions to help address Rougvie's reactivity towards other dogs and give his owners the confidence they need in handling him when in public places. A little still to go but a very productive lesson, the progress we have seen in Rougvie so far has just been fantastic! 🐾😍🤩
The importance of teaching your dog impulse control.
Highland, Kintra and Reggie, three highly driven dogs, especially for balls. In the past some of these dogs would have run across the road for a ball or to greet another dog. Like humans, dogs can often struggle to control their impulses, particularly around things they find exciting or scary which can then create frustration and lead to undesirable behaviours. By training our dogs impulse control we can help our dogs learn to make good decisions, offer and exhibit good behaviour around distractions and most importantly have fun! 🐾😍🤩
Another responsibility of being a good dog owner is teaching good recall, whether that's other dogs, people, or a potential danger that could be detrimental to you or your dog. Something I continue to imprint onto my own dog and structured walk dogs. Here is a wee snippet of some of the recall exercises we get up to, to further enhance a great recall!🐾🐕😍🤩
A little refreshment training with my own dog, Highland. Even after teaching your dog new skills it's important to once in a while test and refresh them.
Nobody's perfect but we can do our best to really try to enable our dogs the best quality of life we can give them. You never know when you may need to rely on them. It is also great for boosting your dog's genetic intelligence, to improve your relationship with your dog and reward them with the enrichment they truly desire 🐾😍🤩
Changing lives, it's what we do best, for you, the owner and your dog. Introducing Rougvie the Labrador.
From highly strung, stressed reactivity towards people and other dogs to calmer, enriched relaxation. It's so rewarding to see results like this in only a couple of lessons, it makes the journey all worth while🐾😍🤩
It was Tala's first time in Starbucks, she was a little nervous to begin with but soon started to relax feeding from Highland's good energy. By the end she was smashed it and most definitely earned herself a Puppuccino🐾😝❤️
Highland's Ladies Club yesterday, starting from Persley Walled Gardens for a spot of engagement training and a relaxing walk along the river🐾🐕❤️
Photo bomb of some of the things we've been up to this past week or so, very productive week! 🐾🐕😍🤩
Group Class last night was held at the Beach, although the weather was a little grim, what a great evening.
We did some engagement, recall and heel exercises to enhance eye contact and furthermore continue to create a solid relationship with their owners, giving the dogs the enrichment they need, we were even able to swap dogs during the hour to further improve confidence, well done everyone🐾😊👏
Highland's Ladies Club at Seaton Park last week, brilliant morning with the dogs🐾😍🤩
Reggie's Heel including recall to Heel, with Otis too! 🐾😍🤩
Part 2 with Willow.
Absolutely fantastic lesson with little dude Sullivan introducing the next step in his training with lead walking and enhancing his engagement with his owner around other distractions including dogs. Willow also did amazing, no reactivity whatsoever, absolutely brilliant, love seeing the progress with my training clients and their dogs🐾😍😎
Little Maltese Willow has joined the structured walk crew and what a cracking first day she had. We joined Tala and her owner for a lesson at the beach, and were accompanied by Assistance Dog, Floyd. Both Willow and Tala were highly reactive towards other dogs and pulled heavily on the lead.
Part 2 of Willow's structured walks coming up, keep your eyes peeled! 👀😊👍
Collieston Beach with Reggie and Highland, what a rare day and dogs had a fabulous time! 🐾😎😍
