Wet conditions can significantly impact the health of a horse’s hooves. Prolonged exposure to moisture softens the hoof wall and sole, making them more prone to cracking, splitting, and bruising. Constant dampness can also lead to bacterial and fungal infections such as thrush or white line condition, which compromise hoof integrity and cause discomfort or lameness. Muddy environments may pack debris into the hoof, trapping moisture and bacteria. Additionally, wet-dry cycles can cause hooves to expand and contract, weakening their structure over time. Regular hoof care and protective treatments are essential to maintain strength and prevent moisture-related damage.

Strong hooves, whatever the weather!

WINTER SKIN & COAT CARE

Pro-Equine’s 🌿Alternative Neem Spray is not merely the ideal summer skin care spray, it’s your go-to grooming companion throughout the winter months as well.

❄ Moisturises dry skin and coat
❄ Encourages hair re-growth from rug rubs
❄ Soothes lumps and bumps
❄ Smooths coat
❄ Ideal pre-clip prep
❄ 100% natural plant based ingredients

Specially formulated to support your horse’s skin and coat in every season, this spray is an essential addition to any grooming kit.
As winter brings muddy paddocks, biting winds, and the increased risk of dryness and irritation, regular use of Alternative Neem Spray helps defend against seasonal skin challenges. It keeps the coat smooth and manageable, reducing the build-up of dirt and supporting easy grooming when time and daylight are short. The spray adds a protective layer that aids in maintaining skin moisture and softness, even when temperatures drop.
It is gentle yet effective for managing minor wounds, abrasions, and problem skin areas. The naturally derived ingredients work to cleanse and soothe, promoting faster recovery and supporting the skin’s natural barrier function.

PUMPKIN TREATS YOUR HORSE WILL GOBBLE UP!

Many horses enjoy eating pumpkins! 🎃 They're naturally sweet, which appeals to a horse’s taste buds, and both the flesh and seeds are safe in moderation. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Pumpkin Treat Tips
Feed raw or cooked: Raw pumpkin is fine, but cooked (plain, no spices) is also safe.

Remove the stem: It can be tough and potentially a choking hazard.

Avoid mouldy pumpkins: Only offer fresh, clean ones.

Moderation is key: Treat pumpkins like a snack, not a meal.

Some horses might turn up their noses, but others will gobble it down happily. Want ideas for fun pumpkin-based horse treats? I’ve got a few up my sleeve!

Pumpkin & Oat Cookies: Bake simple horse cookies using oats, pumpkin puree, and a touch of cinnamon (no sugar or nutmeg!).

Pumpkin Puree Mash-Up: Mix plain pumpkin puree with your horse’s regular feed or chopped carrots and apples for a seasonal twist.

Stuffed Pumpkin Shells: Hollow out a small pumpkin and fill it with hay, chopped veggies, or horse-safe treats for a fun forage activity.
