Update on old wallet, lost, or stolen, in 1974 and recently found stuffed under a capstone in a wall at rear of Shell UK’s Woodbank House, as reported on 27 June.
You might not believe it but I’ve discovered further details of the owner of the black wallet found in a wall at the rear of Woodbank House.
A friend of mine, Margaret, knew of the family and friends of hers were able to fill in the story of the Cochrane family.
Many thanks, Margaret!!!
The family did sell their house to Stewart Spence and the house was extended and became the Marcliffe at Pitfodels.
When the family moved out, they moved to a house on North Deeside Road Cults, and not to Aboyne as first thought.
The family then moved to London to be close to their family.
The wife died about three years ago and the husband, whose wallet it was, died about the same time as the wallet was found!! How uncanny!!
A friend of mine was given the wallet yesterday and a friend of a friend is going to take the wallet with her when she goes down to London to attend the chap Cochrane’s funeral
service!!
The family might find some solace with seeing the content of the wallet interesting!!!
Isnt it strange how a wallet, lost or stolen 48 years ago and found accidentally when a wall was being rebuilt after damage by overturned trees in the recent storm Arwen, is eventually being reunited with the Cochrane Family!!
Another interesting fact I discovered that a son of the Cochrane’s was a prolific swimmer and swam for Scotland in the Commonwealth games and may even have swum in the Olympics!!
