I keep reading posts about dog behaviours on Facebook and I wanted to write this so that is anyone has troubles, they can find answers without feeling embarrassed to ask.
This is generalised and if you have any specifics you'd like help with, feel free to message me directly.
A new pup in our house is a new family member, If they were human they'd be given rules, A puppy is just the same.
Clear, Consistent rules that the whole family follow.
Examples
No pup on the sofa.
Soon as puppy wakes up take to the garden and cheer there every p*e.
If you see puppy chew, tell them no and give them a toy.
Have a key word everyone uses to say no (we use "Ah").
A puppy needs consistency and without it the problem behaviours grow bigger, Using the same words means they get a clear command and learn quicker.
You can't be mad with a puppy if your happily enjoying 10 minutes and leave them to it so they eat a table leg, Your puppy is an infant and really needs constant supervision to start with.
Puppyhood can be easy or hard, the more time and effort you put in the quicker you see positive results and have a calm, happy house.
People need to be open to learn. As mum to your new pet it's up to you to make this a whole family commitment, Anyone not onboard is only making the job harder.
Routine
First 6 months only expect your puppy to manage 6-8hrs without accident at night, So if you hate early
Mornings then take them out as late as possible and be sure to give them a good ten minutes in the garden to fully empty themselves before bed.
When you get up if there clean praise them like its amazing and then run them outside so they can p*e.
Pups eat then p*e
Sleep then p*e
And again and again on repeat.
So once they eat take them out but try them again after 30 minutes because some pups differ, you'll learn your pups pattern.
Walking
Simple rule 10 minutes walking for each month of their life for the first 12-18 months.
This is to not over exert joints and to avoid causing long term damage with growth plates and hips.
If they don't want to walk on the lead, We'll now you use your silly happy voice and gently encourage them, an praise them and keep talking to them.
They want to please and your happy silly voice gets the best results.
Lead walking from day one, introduce all the commands you want them to respond too
Heel
Wait
Walk on
At every crossing, curb, light start right away and always have them walk nicely, if you let them pull and walk ahead because their little, well there soon going to grow and it is harder to Correct then.
I hope this helps, Any questions please don't be shy.
Everyone wants a happy healthy relationship with their puppy.
