We have been doing amazing on our collection for Christmas gifts for Oxfordshire animal sanctuary!

And we would like to thank everybody for their donations for this so far!

It is £1 per gift, each gift is random, between food & toys! And it goes straight into a box to be sent to the Oxfordshire animal sanctuary for Christmas

If you would like to contribute please contact us, we can either add this on to your next groom, you can come into the salon or we could accept this via bank transfer for any contributions.

Welcoming a new family member this Christmas?

There’s a couple of things to remember, Dogs are for life, not only for a Christmas! Dogs require a lot of attention and maintenance - including grooming!

You must be brushing your dog at home to prevent matting and bring them to the groomers regularly (talk to your groomer to find a schedule suitable)

Puppies must be going to the groomers from 12 weeks old, for a puppy groom, this will help them get used to going to the groomers and will make it easier for you to maintain their coat

Here at tails and tweed we offer puppy grooms to get your puppy into the salon & start desensitising them to our equipment such as clippers & dryers.

We are looking for a DROP COAT for an assessment for one of our students, - shih tzu, Lhasa apso, Maltese, Yorkshire terrier

The dog must have no matting, well behaved, and in a Teddy style (photos for examples)

Our top tips to stop your dog from matting

1. Use a good quality slicker brush
2. Use a comb to check for knots hiding close to the skin
3. Brush daily, especially if your dog has been wet or wears a harness or coat
4. If you are short of time, concentrate on areas prone to matting first, such as legs, ears and around friction points like collars
5. Use treats as a reward for good behaviour to make brushing time enjoyable
