Due to getting very little to no funds everyday, this had led to us having to announce closure to the public.

With the animals still on site, we really would be so grateful for some support with feeds and bedding.

The Dengie Animal Safe Haven CIC

Due to rising costs across the board with running The Dengie Animal Safe Haven CIC, lack of grants and funding available we have had to make the difficult decision to permanently close with immediate effect.

We would like to reassure all of our customers that the animals will remain cared for in the interim supported by Maldon Promenade Zoo and our landlord has kindly agreed to waive any rent and past rent that has been due.

We will no longer be open to the public to visit.

It is just £3.95 per person to enter our petting site, with a family four entry at £12.
These funds help to buy everyone’s feed and bedding each week.

We have the sheep walking available that will need to be booked in advance, you may be able to book as you arrive however no guarantee.🐑🐑 ❤️
Sheep walking is an additional £2.50 per person leading the sheep. You won’t see this available anywhere else as cheap as this! 🐑🐑❤️

Interested in walking a sheep? To book you can simply message us on here, messages will be responded either the start of the day or at the end due to being busy seeing to the animals.❤️

Geezer our goose has gotten braver since arriving to us! He loves a bit of fruit/veg. Pictured biting on some tasty apple!🍎 🪿💖

If anyone can help with dropping off some fresh fruit and veg at all, we get through quite a bit each week.

Bananas / ones that haven’t gone bad.

We will be open this weekend from 10am, we will close from 3pm.

We are a cash only site, £3.95 per person or for a family four it’s £12.

All funds we recieve go to buying the feeds each week for our many retired/rescue animals.

We are just round the corner from On the latch cafe in Althorne. Same car park 🅿️, as you head to the cafe, if you continue walking round to the right and past the stable shops, you’ll find us!

Come and meet many of our amazing animals! From giving our pony a brush, seeing our free roaming goose (Geezer), meeting our guinea pigs, viewing our spectacular budgerigars, to many more!

Upon visiting if you wanted to come away to the cafe and come back between our opening times on your day of visiting, you will be able to!

If you like somewhere quiet to sit listening to the birds singing, and meeting many animals. This will be perfect for you!

*please note during hot weather, we will be restricting how many times a animal is handled*
*we also offer sheep walking at £2.50pp but this is weather dependent. If it’s too warm then this won’t be available.
