Can't forget the new girl so a little crystal update, we are talking things slowly and building her fitness up as she's not done very much at all for the last couple of years but she's gaining strength week by week. All being well we will aim to get her out around March time to a little show and go from there.

Been a bit quiet throughout December but we've been training away,
Today we headed put to BD quest with our teammates first show of the year and completed our first 2 tests of 2024.
Team prelim for 65.69% and team took the win
My quest novice a win with 66.15% a big ask for us both as we've only competed a handful of novice tests but super pleased with how she went, still lots to work on at this level and overall mainly eve realising she isn't in control and me realising I am 🤣 but we will get there she is growing with confidence and ability every year and its hard to forget where we started to what we've achieved the last 18mths. Looking forward to 2024 already.
We head out again next week for some more quest before a few weeks of hacking and training ready for our 2nd ever area festival at the end of January.

Uk equine sport championships 2023 princess was just epic trying her all for me even when I had a bad day and was really struggling.
Warm up prelim 7th with a mistake 65%
Intro championship 2nd 70% ( our last intro championship)
Prelim 12 championship 65% with a mistake 7th
Prelim 14 championship 67% and 6th
Novice 28 championship 63% Finished 15th

A great 4 days away made all the better by having great friends their with us as well.

Princess will be having a few days off now before we get ourselves ready for the para pulse championship show at hartbury later this month

Our very first petplan area festival. Nerves got the better of me today and I made a couple of mistakes with my accuracy. And it showed in some of the marks
Judge at e had us on 63.13
Judge at c had us on 64.17
Judge at m had us on 66.25%

Finished on 64.51% which for our first ever go I'm really pleased with looking forward to another shot at it in August.
Then to start the music classes and hopefully qualify for them.
Big thank you to my dear friend and trainer Tanya guy for taking me today and being top support crew, and to Lucy kimber for coming and being top groom and sorting evie after my test when I was melting.

No words our first RDA national chamionships.
71.74% and 3rd and qualified to compete in the grade 6 championship at the British dressage dressage summer festival of para dressage. 🥰❤

Could not have asked evie for more its been a long day with the competition suspended due to lightening to be on over 2 hours later than planned. Felt we rode the best test we ever had so win/lose/ place it really doesn't matter I'm super pleased with how our first big chamionship has gone. Xx

Another trip to Sparsholt for our second attempt at a novice test. I was really please with how the test went, unfortuntly the judge didn't like.some of our work but that's dressage for you, only our second attempt at this level and we only started prelims and also BD this year. So still really pleased.

Competed today in our new veliciti lusso dressage bridle from Shires Equestrian such a lovely smart bridle and really focuses on the well being and comfort of the horse.

Our lovely jacket from the wide boot company keeping us cool in the warmer weather.

N22 2nd 61.3%

Quiet couple of days now before we get very busy we head off to hartbury first for the RDA national chamionships.
We then have our first ever area festival which we are really looking forward to experancing, won't be challenging the top spots but the experance to compete this year at one will be invaluable.
Then we have another team quest show
Before we then head to the UK sport chamionships at the end of the month.

A sunny outing today some more BD another qualifing score added. And 3rd 63.8 %. We tried riding her a different way to normal to try and not have the tension creep in which did work, and we kept the rythem through the best we not just have to bring the roundness with it bur definite improvements. And the judge said what a lovely cob evie was
Big thank you to Tanya Guy for.coming down and giving me a kick up the backside I do struggle with my nerves without realising it and evie really responds when I get tense. And of course top support staff and evies best friend mum was back with us today.
A quiet few weeks training now before a busy end to April before I head of on holiday in May and evie goes on holiday to be kept ticking over while I'm away second half of the year is looking very busy.
Worn my new jacket today which is lovely and was ideal for a warm day like.today thank you to the wide boot company.

Mixed day today at Wellington for BD my quest.
Evie warmed up best she ever had was lovely and relaxed test started soo well then unfirtunatly she came back at me a little and the tension crept in leading to her being a little hollow so lost a few marks but still really pleased with another win and 68% so another 5 points to add to my quest.
Few quiet days before we head out on Saturday for some more BD.

Been a quiet couple of weeks but we've been continuing to train, today we headed out to BD and won our bronze section with 65.8% which I was pleased with still lots to improve and things we are working on in training so we know we still have marks to pick up. Off out to BD quest again this weekend just the this time before we have another weekend off competing before a busy last few weeks of April with BD and quest shows.

Great lesson today working on our next BD test ready for a few weeks time, a fun weekend ahead off out with the team for quest again Saturday and then to a friends for a sleep over for myself and evie before heading to the local riding club show on Sunday for a spot of showing a little bit of a change for Princess to mix things up. Then we have a rare weekend off before we back out BD in a few weeks time x

Another fab BD Quest day,
Today we did the my quest intro and the team quest alongside Katie, jess and Karen for whiskey tango foxtrot.
It's so much fun being part of a team and all encouraging each other.
Me and evie won our my quest class with over 66.7%
And the team finished 2nd in the team event, great tests by everyone today.
Evie was nice and chilled for.our first test unfortunaly did get a little.tense in the second but we did have a very long wait so lost a few marks bacise of this but still really pleased with princess today, nice hack over the next few days then back out Thursday for some more BD.

So what have we got planned for 2023

So far we have qualified for
Dodson and horrel chamionships ( intro and prelim)
And
Bd petplan summer festivals ( prelim)

We are aiming to try and qauilfy for both my quest and team quest, rda chamionships

So far this year we have steeped up to BD so far gaining 3 prelim bronze wins with scores over 66%

Then Sunday we are going to the local riding club show.to do some showing classes.

Training

Training is so important and having a trainer that understands your illness and limitations but also understands that you have good days and bad days is I think one of the most important things as a disabled rider. I'm so so lucky that I train with Tanya Guy, she's not only a brilliant quailifed trainer who teaches the correct scales of training, but she has also become a great friend, she took the time getting to know us both and understand what evie needs and what I struggle with and poor eve has to put up with and find ways round things that I struggle with because of my illness, we never miss a lesson if I'm having a bad day and I'm struggling Tanya will jump on and continue with evie which is so important as she is still learning all this dancing stuff so sometimes if she needs a little.more than I can do Tanya never has a problem getting on and finding us a way round it.
We train weekly and last year I spent 2 weeks at her yard in prep for sunshine tour finals. Which must of worked as we won with over 70%
Tanya is a huge part of my team as she pushes us to aim for more and without her help we would not have achieved everything we did in 2022 and I'm excited to see where we can go.

Tanya also competes herself british dressage and bred her horse and has trained him up the levels which is testament to her dedication to the sport I love being a support to her out competing as well.

That's when princess pony entered my life when I was least expecting it she's is my best friend, my reason for getting out of bed in the mornings. Never did I think we'd be out competing and doing BD and chamionships and having fun together but she bring so much joy to my life as well as my family she's has the cheesiest personality loves.people more than horses and I couldn't imagine life without her, I trust her with my life no matter what she looks after me we've even done the odd jumping round and x country schooling which I never thought I would do again.
She has several names evie ( trinity lass) Princess, turbo cob.
She may be little.bit she has the biggest heart, she had helping me though some really tough emotional times the last year, she puts a smile on your face when u need it and u can never get cross with her because she will always end up making you smile one way or another.

Having ridden my whole life mainly showjumping / eventing amd the odd dressage. When thinking of my further after diagnosis continuing with horses was never a thing to think about but I did make the decision to stop working as a groom and move to more of an office based job luckily I took up working with the husband so not all bad. After a fall I which left with severe concussion after my diagnosis and talking with the family and my neurologist who told me I couldn't really risk hitting my head again 🤦‍♀️ I made the decision to stop jumping competitively to reduce the risk a little unfortunalty my illness does affect my balance. So after retiring my old jumper I decided to start tentatively looking for something to just have fun and enjoy hacking round the farm with, no pressure to compete but I knew I couldn't be horseless for the rest of my life.

Hi I'm Amy, I was diagnosed in 2012 after a lengthy illness of having multiple sclrosis which did change alot of elements of my life, and I had to make.some hard decisions about what I could and couldn't do going forward.
But I wrapped my head around things and decided I would not my illness ruin or dictate my life and how I would live it. Yes I have a lifelong illness and live with daily medication some days are good some are bad but there is always someone else who is in a worse position than me. I have a loving caring husband and the most amazing supportive loving family and that's priceless
❤❤ never let an illness or disability define you.
