Toys are important to your dog’s development. One of the first things we do when we get a dog is go buy them a toy! Toys provide mental and physical stimulation. If they are bored, they reach for their toy. Need to chew, they go for a toy. Want to rest, curl up with a toy. Toys satisfy a need in our dogs.

We have a late morning and afternoon nap 💤 time 🕰️ for dogs 🐶. 🐾❤️😴😴😴

Would it surprise you if we told you over five million dogs in the UK aren’t getting enough sleep? 😮

It may sound like a lot, but most adult dogs should actually get at least 14-16 hours of shut-eye every single day! 💤

Here are our top tips for ensuring your pet gets the sleep they need:

- Provide a safe, comfortable space away from the hustle and bustle of the house.
- Allow your dog to get a good amount of alone time.
- Ensure your dog gets enough exercise so they are mentally and physically tired – any pent-up energy will make it harder for them to nod off properly.
- A plug-in diffuser or collar can release natural calming pheromones.
- Allow for several snooze spots. Your dog may feel comfortable sleeping in a different room, so make sure there are plenty of places they can access which are comfy and quiet enough for them to rest.

🐾Top 10 List for choosing care for your dog.🐾

1 - Licence. Most importantly, does the carer have a licence? It’s an offence to care for dogs without a licence. No licence; no insurance. If they happen to have insurance, it is void without a
licence.

2 - Medical care/emergencies. A licensed boarder is required to have a formal relationship with a local vet. Ask to see the carer’s licence and proof of insurance. Does the carer have a well-
stocked first aid station? What emergency plans are in place?

3 - Experience. Previous experience with dogs? How many years? All licensed carers must have
taken a canine first aid course within the last three years. Ask to see the course certificate. Does the dog carer’s service suit your needs? What size and age of dogs do they look after? Will your dog be okay with those dog sizes?

4 - Dog onboarding. The process should exist and be explained. It takes several visits to ensure your dog feels safe in the carer’s premises.

5 - Security. Is the garden secure so that dogs can’t get out and people can’t get in? Is there a high gate at the entrance to ensure a dog can’t jump over it and escape?

6 - Cleanliness. Look around the house for unwashed floors, old looking water in the water bowls,
dirty dog toys and dirty dog beds. Is there poo in the garden? It should be picked up immediately to ensure good health and hygiene. Are the dogs at the premises clean and calm?

7 - Feeding. Where are the dogs fed? Do they eat together or separated? There should not be dog bowls on the floor for another dog to eat. That dog could have an intolerance or allergy to food other than his own.

8 - References. Ask for references. Look at online reviews. Ask around for word-of-mouth feedback.

9 - Availability. Does the carer have enough space in the schedule to accommodate your needs?
Ask about the cancellation policy. Don’t wait until the last minute to book care for an upcoming holiday. It takes times to find the right fit, and to then onboard with a dog carer to ensure you have peace of mind while your dog is in their care.

10 – Location. Your dog carer should be reasonably close to you so that you and your dog can build a trusting relationship with the carer and the dogs they look after.
