NEW POLICY
All dogs MUST keep their leads/harnesses on in reception at all times.
The groomer is to remove the leash only when the dog is secured behind the gate, and also leashed before being handed back to their owner.
This has been policy a long time but will be enforced from now.

Today, a client nearly lost their dog before they had even got to the salon. On the walk to the salon just outside, as some dogs do, the dog decides they’d rather be at the park and pull to get out of their collars and harnesses.
In particular today, the dog had a very badly fitted harness much like those mentioned in the photo bellow
Thankfully, due to the incredibly quick thinking of Lacey ( The Beauty & the Beasts Pet ), and even faster running, Tilly was caught and handed back to her owner.

Lacey and I agreed we need to help advise clients about securing their dogs, maybe even changing what harnesses they use or ensure they or their perfectly good collar is fitted properly.
We see dogs attempt to pull out if their harnesses and collars at the salon door quite often, and would hate to see this incident happen again.
Tilly was incredibly lucky today that she wasn’t hurt.

We also agreed that, while this wasn’t an “in salon” issue, sometimes owners let their dogs off in reception on drop off. Unfortunately we cannot stop someone from the street opening the door and accidentally letting your dog out.

So…

🛑From now on we advise all owners to leave these leashes on and pass the dog to the groomer who will secure them behind the gate. This will also be the same on pick up.

Thankfully no one was hurt today other than maybe an owners pride, but we would never want an owner to experience that worry even if it’s out on a daily walk or on way to the salon.

Also, I think we should sign Lacey up for a marathon 😂
