A common mistake I see made with puppies is falling into a false sense of security when out walking. To begin with pups can be quite cautious of the big wide world staying close to their grown ups, leading them to think their dog will always be like this. Usually as the pup grows in size and confidence they will start to be more adventurous and perhaps more “naughty” not staying close to their owner and not responding to recall.

This is why I like to work on engagement, even when a pup is being super good (like the lovely Lola here) there is always benefit in ensuring they are engaged with you, listening, responding to recall around distractions and know basic moves like a sit and a heel position.

Today Lola showed what a good job her parents have been doing. When a dog rushed out of a house towards us barking - she responded to my call and sat waiting for me to tell her what to do next. What a pro 👍

Was very sad to hear that the lovely Griffy passed away during the Easter break. Griffy was my rock on our walks, always setting a good examples for the newbies and youngsters. He was an exceptional judge of character, who would be very patient and forgiving to those dogs learning the ropes, but I’d always know if a dog was trouble if Griffy didn’t like them! One of my very first clients, a favourite with my son, he had a long and great life thanks to his owners care. He will be very much missed!

Well this gave me a laugh this morning.

When considering using a DNA testing company spending a bit extra tends to give you a better result. The best companies will have a larger database of samples. Although I would hope even the cheapest old tell the difference between a dog and human 🤣.

I am now wondering what breed I would be if I was tested 🤔🤔🤔

When asked this morning what dogs I had today, I replied that I have one less for my first group so I just have “Ronnie and the Big Dogs” which I feel should be their band name. I tried to get them to pose for their first album cover, but this was the best I could get out of them 🤷🏻‍♀️
