We are only a call away. If you can not make your appointment please give us as much notice as possible to allow us to offer the appointment slot to other animals in need.

Ellis, who you’ll all remember as our Saturday girl is now in her fourth year at The Royal Veterinary College in London 🤩 She’s been back at Firth Vets the past two weeks on placement and it’s been a pleasure having her. Only two more years and hopefully all her hard work will have paid off. Keep up the good work Ellis, we’ll see you again soon. 🩺🐶💉🐶📚🐮📝
Unfortunately we have had a black, long haired, male entire cat with no microchip handed in who is deceased.
Sadly he was knocked over in Eastriggs, opposite H&I engineering. If you think he may be yours, please contact the practice on 01461 202420.

🐱 We have had a lost cat handed in to us who was found at Newington school playing field. He is a male neutered long haired tortoiseshell who appears blind. He does not have a microchip. If you think he may be yours please contact the practice on 01461 202420 🐱

🦠 Parvo virus 🦠
We have had a few positive cases of the disease Parvovirus.
🦠Parvovirus is a highly contagious disease which can remain in the environment for a long time. 🦠
🐶 Puppies and young dogs are at the highest risk, however the disease can also affect older dogs, and unvaccinated dogs.
💉 Please make sure your dogs vaccinations are up to date. If you are unsure about their vaccination status please contact the practice.
💩 Pick up your dogs poo to help prevent spread of the disease in the environments.
📞 If you have any concerns about your dog, please call the practice and speak to a vet.
Unfortunately we have had a deceased female tabby cat handed in with no microchip. She was found around the Annan Hospital area. If you think she may be yours please contact the practice on 01461 202420.

With the recent weather conditions we have seen a rise in the number of pets with fleas. Unfortunately, the active ingredients in shop bought products may not be potent enough to kill the fleas in all stages of there life cycle.
We have a selection of prescription only products which are proven to be effective. Call the practice to order or discuss.
Sadly we’ve had a deceased female, black cat handed into us. She has a growth below her right eye. Found in The Rand area of Eastriggs. If you think she could be yours please call the practice on 01461202420.
This little lady has a microchip but details not up to date. She has been taken to the local police station.
Please do not walk your dogs in this heat. The ground outside is red hot 🥵 Only travel in cars with them if absolutely necessary.
Herbs is on the next part of his travels. He's now in Canada 🇨🇦 In fact he's actually in a place called New Annan. This is in Prince Edward Island and is named after our wee town. With just under 5 weeks left til they’re home, we can't wait to hear all about their travels. We just hope Rhian hasn't forgot what hard work is 😜
😁 🦷Prevention is better than cure. 😁🦷Yesterday Bella, Lyndsay on receptions dog, was fully anaesthetised to undergo a routine dental procedure. With anaesthetics always carrying a risk and Bella being 10 year old she got her bloods done to check her internal organ function before she was anaesthetised. All was well so we proceeded. This is her 2nd time having a dental & as a result of proactive ownership she only lost 1 small incisor. Otherwise her oral health is great. Cats & dogs are a lot like us in many ways. We don’t ignore our own teeth so don’t ignore their dental needs. Keep an eye on their teeth because good oral hygiene has many health benefits. Any concerns speak to your vet.

Little Herbs is currently sunning himself in Southern France, trying hard to avoid the frog legs 🐸🤢
He’s had a busy two weeks visiting, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona, Marseille and
Aix-en-Province. While in Barcelona he went to cheer on the women’s team against Atletico Madrid ⚽️ The hoarse throat was well worth the 4-0 win 👏🏼

We’re now on the 3 month countdown till she’s home. Keep your eyes peeled for photo updates of her little mascot Herbs 🐮 He’ll be the best travelled highland cow in the parish.
