Canine Body Language! 🐕🐾🐶
Last weekend I completed a day long course on Canine Body Language, and it was absolutely fascinating!
I thought I already had a good understanding of reading a dog’s body language, but I learnt loads and feel like my skill set has really been expanded 🙌🏻
It was very in-depth, we covered:
🐾 the dog’s face, including eyes, ears, head movements, mouth
🐾The tail and rear end
🐾body shape and movement
🐾vocalisations
🐾pacifying and diffusing behaviours
🐾displacement behaviours
🐾the environmental context
🐾the role of olfactory senses
…plus much much more!
I absolutely recommend this course to all dog professionals and owners alike. Communication doesn’t start when we speak, it starts when we listen. We owe it to our dogs to understand how they are feeling so that we can prevent misinterpretation, so we don’t put them in stressful situations, so we can spot when they are in pain and just to be aware of how the dog is feeling generally.
My enhanced understanding is going to be very useful when walking your dogs so that I can be sure they are happy and content! 🫶🏻
