Cat sitting is the ideal solution for pet owners if you’re going away for holidays, weekends away, work trips, if you are going into hospital, or simply because you can’t keep asking your neighbours! Cats like to be in familiar
surroundings and like to have a routine. They are true creatures of habit. Some animals, especially cats, can find it extremely stressful to be taken out of their home environment. Cats like to have their own territory and being in a strange place near other strange cats can add to their anxiety. I can make sure that your best friend is fed, watered and generally comforted and reassured while you're not there, leaving you with the peace of mind to enjoy your time away. Cat sitting is a cheaper more convenient alternative to a cattery and there is the added benefit of someone checking on your home daily. Cats often find travel stressful making the cattery journey an upsetting and distressing start to your time away. A cat sitting service means that this along with the stress to you of trying to get them into the dreaded pet carrier isn’t necessary. As a cat owner since a child (a very long time!) I understand that cats are an important part of your family. I offer a personal, friendly, reliable and professional service to ensure your cat is looked after in the comfort of their own home. The service is ideal for all sorts of cats, from independent types that like to come and go as they please through a cat flap, to elderly cats that just want to sleep in their favourite spot. Each cat is an individual, and I love getting to know them all, taking the time to work out each cat's likes and dislikes. If your cat prefers to keep their distance, that's fine! I will leave them to get used to me but will be open if they want to approach me. I will feed your cat until just before I leave. This can coax an outdoor cat inside, or tempt a shy cat to join me on the sofa for some company and fuss. Although I prefer to spend time with each cat in my care, if your cat is independent this will be respected. Your cat will be safe and secure with their own familiar sounds, smells and sights. It is a much nicer experience for them than sending them to a cattery while you are away. It also reduces the risk of urinary tract infections, depression and stress for them to stay where they are happiest. Let me look after your pet in their own home while you're out at work, on holiday or just away for a few days
I can provide cat visits to your home in the morning, during the daytime and in the evening, whichever best suits you and the needs of your cat. I will make sure that they have fresh water, will feed them and clean litter trays. If they are cats that like to be fussed I am more than happy to spend quality time with your pet. I am happy to groom your cat if needed and administer medication. You can choose for once or twice daily visits. When visiting your home to care for your cat, I can also undertake additional tasks if requested such as watering plants, alternating lights, opening and drawing curtains, putting out and bringing in your bins and collecting the mail from your mail box. This service is free of charge. I can send you updates throughout the booking with messages, pictures and videos so you can feel confident that your cat is happy and cared for while you are away from home. It may not always be possible for me to take photos/videos at every visit, but I will make sure that I send them whenever possible. Updates can be sent by text, WhatsApp or email either daily or at various intervals while you are away. I will speak to you before you go and you can let me know how often you would like to be updated. Initial Booking – Face to Face Meeting
Where possible I like to arrange to meet with you before your first booking. This is to make sure that I know where everything is and to meet your pet. Once I have received your enquiry and we have confirmed that the dates you require are available, I will contact you to arrange for a convenient time to meet you and your cat/s. Any last-minute changes, should they occur, can then be confirmed by phone, text or email. During the meeting I will arrange with you exactly what it is you want me to do while looking after your pet and how often you want it done. It is important that you and your pet/s feel that you can trust and rely on me. I will also go through a list of things that I need to know such as:
Names and emergency contact details,
Arrangements for access,
Informing neighbours,
VET details, etc. What your cat likes and, more importantly, what it doesn't like,
Special dietary needs, etc. It's handy for me to have an emergency contact number, someone local, in case anything happens to you while you're away, or if I need help with vet visits, so please think ahead about who this could be and give it to me on meeting, or leave it out for my first visit. During the meeting I will also be able to answer any questions you may have about my service. Pricing & Availability
The charges below cover my travel & car costs plus initial meeting/key collection. There may be extra charges for multi cat households and small animals, and over the festive and Easter periods, plus bank holidays. A fixed fee per cat sitting visit is charged according to your location. Normally, the fee per visit (for up to three cats) is the same regardless of the number of cats. So whether you have one, two or three cats, the fee is the same. If you have more than three cats, the fee may be slightly higher – please ask. The visits are 20-30 minutes long. If you would like a longer visit please ask for an individual quote. Payment can be made in cash, cheque or by bank transfer. A receipt will be provided. Visits within Badersfield
£6.00 per visit for 1 visit per day.
£10.00 for two visits per day. Visits within 10 miles of Badersfield (NR10 5JU)
£9.00 per visit for 1 visit per day
£15.00 for two visits per day. If you live further away please contact me for a quote. Following the initial meeting a 25% deposit is payable (subject to a minimum deposit of £20). This can be paid in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer. Once the deposit has been received a booking confirmation email will be sent to you. A deposit is only required for a "first" booking. Once you are a customer, all future bookings do not require a deposit. Visits
Visits are done daily - I do not look after cats on an 'every other day' basis. The timing of the daily visits cannot be guaranteed but my visits are generally between 9am and 2pm. I can set up timer bowls if the feeds require (eg if your cat gobbles their food or is only on wet food). If I am doing two visits in a day, I will normally do the first visit sometime between 830am-12noon, and the second visit can be anytime from late afternoon. As with the first visit of the day, I can set a timer bowl to make the feed later at their usual time if required. Emergencies while you are away. If your cat becomes unwell or is injured while you are away, with your permission I will take them to a vet and bring them home again when they have been assessed. I will give any aftercare advised by the vet while you're still away. This is an extremely rare occurrence, but please be reassured that I will never hesitate to consult a vet where necessary. Arrangements can be agreed for the vet to invoice you for any vet’s bills incurred. Before going away, please check with your vet on their procedure for cat sitters in case the need arises. I will ask you to give me the name of your pets' regular veterinary practice and fill out a form authorising the vet to give whatever medicine or treatment your pet may need. I will, of course, always try to reach you on whatever contact you have provided us with before authorising any treatment but, as you can appreciate, the health and well-being of your pet must come first. If I can't contact you or your emergency contact given on our meeting, I will use my own judgement before making a decision as a duty of care. Keys
Your keys are stored in a securely locked location in my home and are only used when on a booking with your cat. I use number coded tags which show none of your personal details so they are easily distinguishable for me but no one else. None of your personal information is given to any other party, unless I am told to by you. The method of key return will be discussed with you at our initial meeting. If you are happy with my service and would like me to hold a key for future bookings it can save a lot of time by saving you having to drop a key to me, or having to be at home for a key collection. If you have a key safe or a safe place to leave your key, I am happy to use this. Please be assured that details will only be known to me. I only carry your keys when on a booking with your cat. Bank holidays
I have limited availability over Christmas & Easter, but I work 7 days a week all year round. I book up for holiday periods extremely quickly so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Christmas Day & Boxing Day - Once a day feeds only, when available. These days are charged at double your normal visit rate. I can provide a timer bowl where needed. New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter (Fri to Mon) - Once a day visits only, when available. These days are charged at 1.5 x your normal visit rate per visit. Bank Holidays - these are charged at 1.5 x your normal visit rate per visit
Privacy Policy
Your personal details supplied to me prior to, and during your bookings are fully confidential. I will not pass on your details to third parties unless instructed to do so, and will not use emergency contact numbers unless the need arises. Please make sure the person you give as your emergency contact knows that you have done so. Your email address will be added to a mailing list which you can ask to be removed from at any time. Your keys are kept in a securely locked location unless during a booking, where they are kept on a key chain easily identifiable by us, but not to anyone else. Your keys will be returned to you via a method discussed at key collection. If you are asked to leave a key in a safe place this place will not be made known to anyone but the sitter for your booking. Frequently asked questions
What is the booking process? Firstly, you need to make a booking enquiry – either over the telephone or preferably by email (stating the dates you want us to cover). If the dates you require are available, I will arrange an initial meeting with you to meet you and your cat(s) and to run over your cat care arrangements. At that point, a 25% deposit is payable (subject to a minimum deposit of £20). What are the key arrangements? With regard to keys, the keys are usually collected at the initial meeting when we meet. At the end of your very first booking I can either put the keys back through your letterbox or I can retain them for future bookings if you wish. Customers may request that a spare set of keys are retained by me so that they don’t have to go to the inconvenience of getting keys to me each time they go away. Feel free to make use of this (free) facility if you wish, or continue getting the keys to Moggies at Home each time you make a booking, (whichever you prefer). Please note that if you do not ask us to retain a spare set of keys at the finish of your first booking, the responsibility is with you to get the keys to Moggies at home for all subsequent bookings as I do not always have the time to collect keys from you. Will you be able to let my cat out whilst I am away? With regard to letting cats in or out, I can work with the following two situations:
EITHER your cat stays in whilst you are away, in which case I will service the litter trays OR your cat has outside access via a cat-flap. I am reluctant to let cats in and out due to the uncertainty of how long a cat might wish to stay out and when it might choose to return. I do not rule this out entirely - and particular situations can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. So if you do not have a cat-flap, your cat would (normally) need to stay in whilst you are away. Even if your cat was confined to the house whilst you are away, I am sure that it would far prefer staying at home in familiar home space in preference to being confined to a small pen in a cattery. What happens if I return early from my holiday? Clients returning early are not able to claim a refund for any unused visits, however I may consider holding all or part of the fee over for any future bookings depending on notice given. What happens if my return from holiday is delayed? Clients needing extra visits due to delays with you returning home for any reason, please let me know - there are no additional charges other than the normal visit cost. Extra visits will be invoiced on your return.
