🍂 TCVM Five Elements Series: The Metal Element 🍂

In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), each season is linked to an element.

Autumn belongs to the Metal Element 🌬️ a time of transition, letting go, and preparing for rest.

The Lung is the organ most connected with Metal. It governs breath, immunity, and the skin–hair coat.

When strong and balanced, pets have:
✨ Clear breathing
✨ A shiny, healthy coat
✨ Good resistance to illness
But when the Metal Element is out of balance, we may see:
⚠️ Coughing or breathing issues
⚠️ Nasal discharge or congestion
⚠️ Dry, itchy skin or a dull coat
⚠️ Digestive changes linked to the Large Intestine

🐾 Metal-type personality in animals:
Pets with a Metal element prevalence are often disciplined, orderly, and thrive with routine. They can be loyal and obedient, but may become withdrawn, rigid, or overly sensitive when out of balance.

🍃 By supporting the Metal Element during autumn through nutrition, acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle - we help pets stay resilient, comfortable, and in harmony with the season.

💡 Now is the perfect time to come for a visit and give your pet’s immune system a seasonal boost. Let’s strengthen their Metal Element and keep them thriving this autumn. 🐶🐱🍁

🌿 Natural Skin Rescue Tips: Sore Eyes 🐶🐱

Mild eye irritation can happen to our pets in everyday life :
✨ after a beach run when a little sand gets in
✨ after a bath when shampoo or dust causes irritation
✨ or even after a playful roll in the garden
In these cases, a cool compress with chamomile or black tea can help soothe the eye area. Both have gentle anti-inflammatory properties that calm puffiness and ease mild discomfort.

👉 How to use:
1️⃣ Brew chamomile or black tea
2️⃣ Let the tea bag cool completely in the fridge
3️⃣ Gently press it as a compress on your pet’s closed eye (only for a short time, and only if they’re comfortable)

⚠️ Remember: this is just for mild, temporary irritation.
If your pet’s eye is very red, swollen, bloodshot, painful, has discharge, or doesn’t improve quickly — seek veterinary attention right away.

Mistake #2: Expecting More Meat🥩

When you start cooking for your dog or cat, it’s normal to expect the bowl to be meat-heavy. But that’s not always what’s healthiest!

🐶 Dog recipes may have more carbs than protein by volume

🐱 Cat diets are higher in protein—but even then, the calorie contribution matters more than what it looks like on the plate

Also: a little fat = a LOT of calories. Most recipes look lower in fat and meat, but they’re nutritionally balanced.

👉 If your pet’s recipe looks “off,” don’t tweak it—check in with your nutritionist instead!

✨ Magic of the Point ✨

Another favourite! These three points, often called the “Three Ball” hip points, are a trio for hip and hind end health. Located around the hips and buttocks, they are essential for pets with stiffness, lameness, or mobility issues.

🔹 Clinical Use:
• Hip pain or arthritis
• Hind leg weakness or instability
• Lameness or difficulty jumping
• Muscle tension or stiffness
• Supporting recovery from injury or surgery

🔹 Surprising Fact:
While each point has its unique location, together they create a “triple action” for hip mobility - like a team of acupressure superheroes working simultaneously!

💡 Try this at home:
Gently massage each point on the hind end for 20–40 seconds while your pet is relaxed. Always avoid deep pressure on injured or inflamed areas.

NSAIDs and Librela may seem convenient — but the long-term cost can be high.
🚫 GI ulcers
🚫 Liver & kidney strain
🚫 Immune suppression
🚫 Loss of nerve sensitivity (Librela)
It blocks pain, yes — but it also blocks nerve function long-term leading to array of potential side effects and can affect the immune system.

Now compare that with Prolotherapy:
🌿 Stimulates true tissue repair
🌿 Strengthens joints & ligaments
🌿 No organ burden
🌿 No long-term side effects
Prolotherapy doesn’t mask symptoms. It helps the tissues heal.

At Natural Anima Clinic, we offer safe, regenerative alternatives that do not suppress symptoms, but actually address the root cause.

Thank you for choosing a natural path. You’re already making a powerful, loving decision for your pet.

With Dr. Kasia’s holistic approach, your pet receives care that goes beyond the surface, bringing deep, lasting wellness.

But true healing isn’t about chasing symptoms. It’s about understanding where they come from, how they’re connected, and treating the whole body, not just the part that seems unwell. Acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, ozone and osteopathy each play a unique role in restoring balance. Depending on our specific goal together they create a complete healing response that one therapy alone simply can’t achieve.

At Natural Animal Clinic, Dr. Kasia will listen to your concerns and carefully craft a personalised, full-spectrum plan to support your pet’s unique needs—naturally and thoroughly.

Cats are meticulous groomers — all that fur has to go somewhere! Sometimes, it clumps up into uncomfortable hairballs.

✨ You can help by:
Adding ½ tsp coconut oil or butter a few times a week — it helps fur slide through the gut.
Mixing in a spoonful of plain pumpkin purée — gentle fiber to keep digestion smooth.

If it is a long term, reoccurring issue for your cat - evaluation of their weight, joints health, mobility and diet is a must. Those hairballs are just a symptom.
Thorough holistic evaluation of your cat's health is exactly what we do at Natural Animal Clinic.

⚠️ See a vet if your cat is coughing, retching without producing a hairball, or losing appetite — it could be more than a simple furball.

Cooking for your pet is an act of love ♥️ but even well-intentioned homecooked meals can miss the mark without proper guidance.

Veterinary nutritionists design balanced recipes tailored to your pet’s needs, but misunderstandings after the recipe is handed over can cause real problems.

Let’s walk through the top 5 mistakes and misconceptions that come up even when owners use professionally formulated diets.
👇👇👇

Mistake #1: Confusing Volume with Calories

“Is this really the right amount?” 🤔

One of the most common concerns we hear from clients is that the volume of food doesn’t match what they expect. But nutritionists calculate based on calories, not cups.
🔹 Homemade diets usually contain more water → lower calorie density
🔹 You may need to feed more by volume, especially in low-fat or grain-free diets
🔹 Don't panic if it looks like a lot (or not enough)! The calories are what count.

💡 Example: 1 cup dry food = ~400 kcal
1 cup chicken + rice = ~200 kcal → You’ll need double the volume!
Trust your nutritionist—they’ve crunched the numbers for your pet’s needs. 🔍

Stay tuned as we explore what nutritionists really wish you knew!
