🐾 Fun Facts About Veterinary Osteopathy – Part 3
Stress relief and relaxation, osteopathy does it all for your pet’s comfort and wellbeing!
It’s a team effort.
In the UK, veterinary osteopaths work alongside vets to provide safe, integrated care. This collaborative approach ensures that pets get the right treatment at the right time.

Even young, active pets benefit.
Osteopathy isn’t just for injuries or old age. For growing puppies, young cats, and active dogs, it can help support healthy development, improve performance, and reduce the risk of strain.

Every aspect of your animal’s health — from energy levels and immune resilience to aging and recovery — begins at the cellular level. DNA health forms the foundation of this cellular wellbeing. 🧬✨

When DNA is stressed or damaged, the body must work harder to repair and restore balance. Over time, this can influence vitality, inflammation, and overall health. By supporting DNA integrity, we help strengthen the body’s ability to heal, regenerate, and maintain optimal function.

At Natural Animal Clinic, we focus on complementary therapies that promote antioxidant activity, reduce oxidative stress, and encourage healthy mitochondrial function — all of which play an essential role in protecting DNA. These therapies help safeguard the cellular “blueprint” that keeps your animal thriving.

By nurturing DNA health, we’re supporting deeper, long-term wellness rather than simply treating symptoms. It’s a gentle, holistic way to care for your pet’s longevity and vitality from the inside out.

Medical ozone therapy is becoming an increasingly valuable tool in modern veterinary care. This gentle, oxygen-based therapy works by delivering controlled amounts of ozone, a highly reactive form of oxygen to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. 🌿

In animals, ozone therapy may support a wide range of conditions by improving tissue oxygenation, reducing inflammation, enhancing immune function, and helping the body manage oxidative stress more efficiently. It is often used as a complementary treatment alongside traditional veterinary medicine, helping to restore balance and promote faster recovery.

From chronic skin issues and wound healing to joint discomfort and systemic inflammatory conditions, many pets benefit from its broad therapeutic potential. At Natural Animal Clinic, we use ozone therapy thoughtfully, tailoring each treatment plan to the individual needs of your animal to ensure comfort, safety, and optimal results.

🐾 Fun Facts About Veterinary Osteopathy – Part 2
Did you know veterinary osteopathy has deep historical roots — and it’s a team effort in the UK? 🏥🐕

Veterinary osteopathy has roots in 19th-century medicine!
Founded in the late 1800s by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, osteopathy began as a hands-on approach to human healing. It later expanded to horses and eventually small animals, becoming a respected complementary therapy worldwide.

It’s a team effort.
In the UK, veterinary osteopaths work alongside vets to provide safe, integrated care. This collaborative approach ensures that pets get the right treatment at the right time.

Your pet’s gut is working behind the scenes to influence far more than digestion. An optimally balanced microbiome helps regulate immunity, fight inflammation, produce key nutrients, and maintain the protective barrier that keeps harmful bacteria and toxins out of the bloodstream. When this delicate balance is disrupted, pets may develop chronic symptoms such as allergies, recurrent ear or skin infections, stubborn digestive issues, or low energy and these challenges often trace back to an unhealthy gut environment.

Research in veterinary medicine continues to show that supporting gut health is one of the most effective ways to improve long-term wellness. Simple strategies like feeding a diverse, species-appropriate diet, providing high-quality fibers, and using targeted prebiotics or probiotics can help, but only when they’re chosen based on your pet’s specific needs. Without proper assessment, it’s easy to miss underlying imbalances or unintentionally worsen certain conditions.

If your pet is struggling with chronic issues, we encourage you not to guess. At Natural Animal Clinic, we specialise in gut health and microbiome-focused care. We can perform appropriate testing, evaluate your pet’s unique microbiome and clinical history, and guide you through a tailored, evidence-based plan. The right treatment starts with the right assessment. Let’s make informed, science-led choices together to restore your pet’s health from the inside out.

A mildly stuffy nose can follow a dusty nap spot, a mild cold, or pollen exposure.
🚿 Run a hot shower, close the bathroom door, and sit with your cat in the warm, steamy room (not in the water) for 5–10 minutes.
💧 The steam helps loosen mucus and makes breathing easier.
⚠️ Laboured breathing, mouth-breathing, loss of appetite, or lethargy mean it’s time to see your vet right away — respiratory issues can escalate quickly in cats.

✨ Did you know? ✨
Osteopathy’s roots go all the way back to 1874 when Dr. Andrew Taylor Still had a “lightbulb moment” under a tree and decided the body could heal itself if its structure was in balance. ⚡🌳

And fun fact: osteopathy originally spread through horse stables! 🐎 Trainers and riders quickly noticed how even small adjustments helped horses move more freely and recover faster.

Curious? Your pet might love the benefits just as much. 🐾

✨ Ozone Therapy in Action ✨
Meet one of our brave patients receiving an ozonated-saline bladder flush to help manage a chronic, antibiotic-resistant UTI. This treatment is done while the patient is calm, conscious, and comfortable -with plenty of snacks and cuddles from their owner. 🐾💛

Ozone therapy is a gentle, safe, and versatile tool we use to support healing in pets with chronic or difficult-to-manage conditions. It can help reduce inflammation, support natural defenses, and improve comfort and quality of life.

If your pet is struggling with recurring infections or long-term health issues, we’re here to help explore options.

Holistic veterinary care doesn’t mean guessing, it means understanding. 🌿✨
In veterinary medicine, diagnostic testing is crucial, no matter the treatment approach. Even when we use holistic therapies, we still rely on accurate tests to gain a deeper insight into how your pet’s body is functioning. In fact, working from a whole-body perspective often means we explore more connections and that can require more testing to truly understand the root causes.
From microbiome profiling and saliva food sensitivity tests to worm egg counts, allergy testing, titre checks, hair tissue mineral analysis, and comprehensive bloodwork, these diagnostics help us listen to your pet’s body clearly.
They allow us to diagnose accurately, monitor progress, and evaluate how well therapies are working, ensuring your pet receives the most effective and personalised care possible.

✨ If you’d like to learn more about which tests may benefit your pet, feel free to get in touch, we’re here to help.

Noticing your pet’s breath isn’t so fresh lately?
Bad breath often starts with tartar build-up or mild gum irritation but it can also be a sign of deeper issues.

✨ Try adding a sprinkle of chopped parsley to their meals - it’s a gentle, natural breath freshener that helps neutralize odours.
🪥 Combine this with regular tooth brushing at home to keep plaque under control and gums healthy.
🥩 And don’t forget - diet plays a big role too. What your pet eats can directly affect their oral health and overall wellbeing.

Persistent or strong odour is more than just a smell. It’s a signal that something isn’t quite right. An integrative vet visit can help look at the whole picture: diet, dental health, and underlying causes. From there, they can guide you toward a professional dental cleaning if needed.

A fresh mouth, a healthy smile, and a happier pet. It’s all connected.
