We've got quite a few new followers on FB and Insta over the past week while, I try to post content on both (but I do feel more comfortable over on Insta!)...

Thanks to everyone who follows along our journey with the dogs, likes our posts, leaves us reviews, tags us in posts and refers us to friends - all support to a small business is very much appreciated - every day is different, we do get some gorgeous company both at home and out on visits, we're very lucky with K9s and clients in our wee world 🏡🐶💙🐾

📢 Public Service Announcement for Dog Owners!

🐾 “Dogs must be kept under control in public spaces at all times.” This is not just good manners—it’s the law under the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991).

Let’s break it down:
Under Section 3 of this Act, it is a criminal offence for your dog to be “dangerously out of control” in a public place.

Now, you might be thinking, “My dog isn’t dangerous!”

But here’s the kicker—your dog doesn’t need to bite or harm anyone to fall under this definition. If your dog causes fear, distress, or injury—even to another dog—you could be held responsible.

Why This Matters for Off-Lead Walks:

• Dogs off-lead who approach on-lead reactive dogs (dogs who feel scared or overwhelmed) can cause unnecessary stress for all involved—especially the reactive dog and their owner.

• Even if your dog “just wants to say hello,” their uninvited approach could lead to a situation where the law deems your dog out of control.

Consider This:

🐕 The owner of a reactive dog is doing everything right by keeping their dog on-lead and under control. They’re working hard to help their dog feel safe. When an off-lead dog approaches uninvited, it can set back their progress—or worse, lead to an altercation.

🌳 Freedom for one dog shouldn’t mean fear for another.

Be a Responsible Dog Owner:

1. Use a lead or long line in public spaces unless your recall is 100% reliable.

2. Always ask permission before allowing your dog to greet another dog.

3. Respect owners who call out, “My dog is nervous” or “Please recall your dog.”

4. Invest in training if your recall isn’t up to scratch (I offer workshops that can help!).

By keeping our dogs under control, we’re not just following the law—we’re creating a safer, happier world for every dog and their owner.

🌟 Remember: Being responsible is a superpower all dog owners can have.

Let’s be the heroes our dogs deserve!

Feeding the Swans

It’s that time of year where natural food sources are scarce and the colder weather sets in so the swans look to people for food more than ever, especially where flocks congregate.

We have had a few calls asking us what to feed them….so thought the points below would be helpful…

🦢 Bread isn’t bad! We know it isn’t the most nutritious (the same as a McDonald’s isn’t the best for us) but it is better than nothing. Swans have been fed bread for many many years without problems and it doesn’t cause Angel Wing. Just please don’t use mouldy bread and always feed in the water!

🦢 Other options can include mixed corn/bird seed, sweetcorn, peas, floating pellets, cooked rice and porridge oats.

🦢Please ensure frozen peas/sweetcorn are defrosted before feeding.

🦢 Some food sinks so if the water is deep then consider options like bread or the floating pellets so the swans are able to get the food.

🦢 ALWAYS FEED IN THE WATER….firstly they need the water to help the food pass down their long neck but more importantly feeding out of the water leaves them vulnerable, especially to dog attacks. It may also encourage them to come out of the water in search of food and this can be dangerous if there are roads/car parks nearby.

Sadly many of the swans we are being called out to are underweight….a typical adult sized swan should weigh between 8kg - 12kg (some heavier) however we have picked up 3 cygnets just this week, all weighing around 4.5kg! Also we know Avian Flu hasn’t gone away and keeping them fed and healthy will mean they stand a better chance should the situation worsen…so anything you can spare to feed the swans this winter will make a difference.

Thank You 💙
