Today we had 4 horses at week 1 of the Flexi Eventing.
Nadia and ‘Lennamore Pure Music’ jumped a great double clear in the 110.

Ben jumped ‘Red Rock Supreme’ in the 1m for a nice double clear SJ and then onto XC were they jumped another clear in the 1m.
He also jumped 4YO ‘Carrick Diamond Darshaan’ in the 70 having an unlucky pole in her second time away from home - she behaved excellently in the busy atmosphere.

Rachael jumped ‘Millparks Eoin’ a great round in the 90 having an unlucky pole too - this was Rachael’s first show in a year, with no better pony to choose to jump on⭐️
3 double clears in total💪💪
Well done Team Acrerock.

Hello my name is Ben Foster and I'm from Carrickfergus, County Antrim. In 2021 I competed in junior divisions and in 2022 I competed in pony divisions.
I first got a ‘try’ of eventing back in 2019 at Tullymurry in one of the training classes and ever since then I always was keen to get started. With covid restrictions in 2020 I was unable to start my first full season until early in 2021, at Maddybenny.

I first started riding at Farmhill Stables in Carrickfergus. Me and my sister both took riding lessons in their riding school and before we knew it we both got our first ponies. We grew up on the yard and received excellent help and guidance from Tom and Anita Doherty in our duration there. Just before lockdown, Anita kindly gave me the ride on her horse ‘Fitz’ as I grew out of my pony. Through lockdown Fitz and I trained really hard on our dressage and jumping with the training days and lessons arranged, so we were ready to go competing once restrictions were eased. We hit the ground running at our first show out at the flexi eventing, where we won the dressage in a class with over 40 competitors on a score of 24, and jumped a nice clear round to top off the day. On this occasion we were all very proud of Fitz, as at 20 years old he still had the moves. This was when I realised I would like to go eventing. I think if I didn't have a horse like Fitz to transition from a 138 to a big horse I probably wouldn't be where I am today.

In november 2020 my mum bought me ‘Las De Coeur’ who got me started in eventing. We had a few months to train as a partnership before making our way up to Maddybenny in May 2021 for our first event. We had a great first day in the EI90 division ending on our dressage score of 28.8 to take 5th - we were all delighted with this and from then on I was eager to go eventing! Me and Ace shared some great moments in 2021, taking me up to EI100J level and having lots of fun on the way. We jumped double clear two weeks in a row at the Tullymurry series in July, which appeared to be his favourite venue. Our last event together was the National Championships in September where we jumped double clear in the EI1OO junior division to take 10th. This was a goal at the start of the season to compete at nationals, but jumping double clear was a great bonus for us. We had zero X country jumping penalties together as he was a machine X country and definitely was our favourite part. We sold Ace early this year to a wonderful home where he is living an excellent life - we miss seeing him everyday but we couldn't have found him a more caring home!

This year I took the reins of my sister's pony ‘Millparks Eoin’ who we bought back in June 2020 as a 4 year old. We sourced Victor from Becky Cullen who had him from Loughries Connemara Ponies. Becky made the sale very smooth for us, connecting us with Joanne Hunter and Karen Parker, Victor's previous owners. We originally saw him at an XC clinic we were attending at Becky's place, and within 2 weeks we brought him home with us. My sister had been riding away at victor producing him herself, and kindly let me ride him this year eventing. We started off at Tyrella series achieving a 4th, two 3rds, and double clear and 3 MER’s. We missed a few events with preparing him for the Balmoral show and got straight back at Tullymurry to move him up to EI100P. The day was going as planned until we reached fence 12 on the X country course and I jumped the wrong fence - it was a quiet journey home to say the least! But that is all part of learning. We continued the season picking up more top 6 placings and getting some mileage for Victor. We were just out to have fun this year and get some experience for him - we hope to see victor ready for Tyrella in march to show his winter of training.

I am looking forward to getting back out in march 2023 in hope to get some successful results in next year's season - we are excited at home as we have some nice horses lined up who will make their appearance at some point next year. As always, thanks to Dora Beacom for always being at the end of the phone for help, and to the team at Eventing Ireland for everything they do for our sport.

Me and my sister are really thankful to my mum and dad who make it all happen with the horses. We are also thankful for our great friend Megan Mullen who occasionally gets roped into driving us to shows, helping us with the horses and making us look presentable - she helped us a lot this year which we appreciate a lot.

As I look back on this year's highs and lows, it has made me determined to get fully prepared for next year and have some more fun in junior classes. We will take each event as it comes within some new horses waiting to go in 2023. Thanks to Evening Ireland for sharing my story on how I started eventing.

Colby and Rocco had a great morning schooling session on NYE down at Knockaghview EC.
It was great to take what they had been working on individually at home and putting it back into course jumping.
Now looking towards their busy 2023 calendar 💪

Fun filled day at the annual Boxing Day meet with East Antrim Hounds.
Rocco took to the field for the first time in a few years and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It was great to ride across different terrains and get some jumping on grass in preparation for the new year!
Rocco is the last chestnut in the video below - doesn’t he look great 👏⭐️

Today we had 4 horses schooling over a simple raised pole exercise.

The main focus was on straightness, footwork, take off and landing. All horses bossed the exercise.

All looking forward to some new years jumping💪💪

Nadia attended the first training day of the 2022/23 Showjumping Ireland Young Rider Academy today! It was a great day with a practical session on course building with Tom Holden and a fantastic talk from Barry O’Connor. Very useful information and great company!🤩 We can’t wait to see how the horses (and rider) improve over the next year with the academy.

Small victories today. Ben took Chanel and Lexi for some dressage and jumping.
‘Chanel’ went to her first show, bossed her dressage and clear in her jumping to take the win in the combined training💪
Lexi went and got 6th in her class and went on to get a 4th and 2nd in her jumping - this was her first dressage after having her foal⭐️
Good milage gained💪

Lovely Darcy who has been with us is looking a new 🏡
She is a 4yo mare by Langaller Star Maker X Shaab.
She would make an exceptional WH horse or show horse with her exceptional looks. Equally she would make a great eventer or show jumper with the blood she carries.
Feel free to PM us for further details on how to arange a viewing🏡
