😎🥶 Weather from Gamrie 🤔, bonnie but brisk 🥶😎.

If you’re heading to today or the next couple of days going by the forecast, look oot yer big jacket 🧥😂.

If you’ve got the sound on watching this video, you’ll hear it’s a wee bit crispy ❄️🧊🥶.

In between the showers it’s actually quite a nice day for a walk if you’re properly dressed for it 🥾🧥🧤🧣.

‼️BUT REMEMBER…‼️

The temperature at which it becomes too cold to safely exercise your dog depends on their breed, size, age, coat type, and overall health. However, here are some general guidelines:

Safe Temperature Ranges:

1. Above 45°F (7°C): Most dogs can safely exercise without issue.
2. 32°F to 45°F (0°C to 7°C): Small dogs, short-haired breeds, and puppies may start to feel uncomfortable. Keep sessions shorter and monitor for shivering or reluctance to move.
3. 20°F to 32°F (-7°C to 0°C): Breeds with thick coats (e.g., Huskies) can handle this, but smaller, thin-coated, or older dogs may need protection (like a sweater or coat). Limit outdoor time.
4. Below 20°F (-7°C): Risk of frostbite and hypothermia increases for most dogs. Exercise should be brief, and protective clothing is essential for vulnerable breeds.
5. Below 10°F (-12°C): It is generally too cold for most dogs to exercise safely outside. Limit outdoor time to bathroom breaks and use booties to protect paws from ice and salt.

Signs It’s Too Cold for Your Dog:

• Shivering or trembling
• Reluctance to walk or play
• Lifting paws off the ground
• Whining or barking to go inside
• Signs of frostbite (pale, cold skin on ears, tail, or paws)

Tips for Cold Weather:

• Use coats or sweaters for small, thin-coated, or elderly dogs.
• Protect paws with booties or paw balm to avoid ice burns and salt irritation.
• Stay active during walks to help your dog stay warm.
• Opt for indoor exercise or mental stimulation when it’s too cold.

Always monitor your dog closely and prioritise their comfort and safety.

I sometimes get asked if Gamrie Dog Field is a dog park or why I didn’t call it Gamrie Dog Park. This is something I feel very strongly about as they are two very different things!

Secure Dog Fields vs. Dog Parks: What’s the Difference?

At first glance, secure dog fields and dog parks might seem similar—they’re both spaces for dogs to enjoy off-leash freedom. But in reality, they are completely different experiences for both dogs and their owners. Here’s how they compare:

1. Privacy and Exclusivity

• Dog Parks: Open to the public, meaning you and your dog share the space with other dogs and their owners.
• Secure Dog Fields: Private and available by booking only. You have the entire space to yourself, ensuring a calm and controlled environment.

2. Safety

• Dog Parks: There’s often no control over the behavior of other dogs, and the fencing (if any) may not be secure enough for escape artists or small dogs.
• Secure Dog Fields: Fully enclosed with secure fencing, so even the most adventurous dogs stay safe. No unknown dogs to worry about, reducing the risk of fights or stress.

3. Ideal for All Dogs

• Dog Parks: Best suited for confident, social dogs. Reactive, anxious, or nervous dogs may struggle in this unpredictable setting.
• Secure Dog Fields: Perfect for every dog, including reactive or rescue dogs, or those needing a quiet space to decompress.

4. Focused Time with Your Dog

• Dog Parks: The shared environment can make it harder to focus on training, recall, or bonding with your dog.
• Secure Dog Fields: With no distractions from other dogs, you can concentrate on training, play, or simply enjoying quality time together.

5. Amenities and Enrichment

• Dog Parks: Often just open spaces with limited features or enrichment opportunities.
• Secure Dog Fields: Many secure fields include agility equipment, natural features, and plenty of sensory opportunities to keep dogs engaged and happy.

Why Choose a Secure Dog Field?

Secure dog fields are designed for dogs and their owners to enjoy a stress-free, tailored experience. Whether your dog loves to run, sniff, or train, a secure dog field offers a safe, private, and enriching environment that dog parks simply can’t match.

If your priority is safety, flexibility, and a setting suited to your dog’s unique needs, a secure dog field like is the perfect choice!
