My Triple Award Winning business offers Adventure Dog walking, Cat visits, Puppy training, 1-2-1 training, K9 Coaching Classes, Train N Trek packages & Lakes n Dales Days using my unique 3 F's system - FUN, FOCUS and FREEDOM. My aim to to help dog owners enhance and enrich their relationships to bring fun, focus and more freedom for both dog and human.
It's been a quiet few months here at B2R HQ, as there's been some changes!
In April, I started a new job in a vets as a night VCA, where I get to help take care of animals who are in hospital over night.
I am still offering training and walks, just on a reduced basis.
It was great to see some of my regulars recently for walks!
Often with TV dog training programmes, they end up being bloody awful (I'm thinking Cesar Milan or that moron in the cravat on C5). However every now and then, a really good one comes along and shows how training is supposed to be done. Jane Ardern puts it beautifully here -

That's why I don't often comment on TV Dog Training 🙄
So last night I watched The Dog Academy on C4 and it was just everything I'd wish for on TV and how to present it to the general public.
I love, love loved it. 🥰
What did I like about it?
1) I loved how the trainers did questioning to the clients, asked them how they felt, along with some straight talking. It demonstrated the trainer's were not working as directive coaches, which is common in dog training and had a more non directive approach which is better for human learning. Victoria has grown so much as a trainer compared to her first TV appearances ❤️ I'm a massive Kamal fan anyway and Sean and Adam were just lovely and loved the training they did with the dogs. Can't wait to see Nancy and Jo do their thing next week 🙄
2) I loved how they looked at the whole situation and how it was influencing the problem. Relationship, wellbeing, needs. Seeing how shouting at the dog all the time affects the relationship. Understanding the underlying reason why the dog was behaving like it was and supporting it.
3) I loved the Freework, Scentwork, Positive reinforcement training and Desensitisation.
4) All the trainer's were fabulous, I loved how each team had the lovely one and the straight talking one.
5) I loved that things did quite go swimmingly at the start, that's how dog training happens.
And finally the stooge dog that was used was just perfect to support the Chi's needs. It's play behaviour was really lovely to watch. It takes a very special kind of dog to be a stooge, this was definitely one of those very special dogs.

We really need to encourage more TV like this as the public will often try stuff they see on the TV, so watch it and talk about it as when it comes to TV it's all about the ratings.
Massive well done to the trainer's and the production company for making some brilliant dog training TV that's going to help both dog owners and dogs too 🐾 ❤️❤️

Being out with your furry best mates can be awesome therapy. Especially when the sun is shining.
On Saturday I organised a social walk for clients & anyone who wanted to get out and walk with new friends. We had a lovely 90 minute walk around Cotherstone & enjoyed some cookies provided by one of the ladies attending!
My own mental health has taken a battering of late & I have struggled some days to see the positives. I turned 40 and apparently did not deal with it well! Anxiety occasionally wins the battles.
We can get bogged down with the state of the world & the s**t storm we have with the state of our economy. We start questioning our choices & whether or not we have made the right ones, and we can feel trapped in our situations.
A walk with our dogs can help take us out if that for a wee while.
I'll be doing social walks once a month, so if you feel you need a new group of friends to walk with, please let me know & we can all help each other out ###x

What a beautiful day to walk dogs. My collie girls enjoyed walks with Amber & Maggie, then with Duke. The sun was shining, the earth is waking up & we had some super sniffy games & selfies!
As part of my continuing efforts to help as many local dog owners as possibly, I am starting my free monthly social walks this weekend. Spaces are limited to 10 dogs and previous clients have priority over booking, but it's open to anyone who would like to meet other dog owners and get their dog out meeting new people.

I have officially moved & am now a full time resident of Teesdale 🥳 Back to where the business started 11 & a half years ago! Back to frolicking in the gorgeous Teesdale countryside, having adventures & helping dogs & their owners. Here we were yesterday enjoying the Tees between Low Force & High Force.

I don't do 'dog walks'. I do Training, Engagement, Adventures & Motivation (my signature T.E.A.M system) and searching & scent work works a dogs brain & helps them be more tired & relaxed after an adventure! Here we see Brae, Taryn, Riley & Brenna doing 'active searching', looking for a toy hidden off the ground. You'll see where I hid the toy & how I rewarded them before release to reinforce a 'wait' cue. Taking dogs out isn't just clipping on a lead & strolling through the woods. Oh no, with me, it's so much more!
What are the fundementals of training your dog? What 3 things do you think you absolutely NEED to teach your dog (apart from things like toilet training)? For me, it's RECALL, WALKING ON LEAD NICELY and FOCUS ON HANDLER. If we can nail those things, the rest will be made much easier. This week I'll be talking about RECALL, why it's important and some great tips to help you and your dog.
