Over recent years there has been an increasing number of incidents with dogs spooking and/or even attacking horses whilst they are out being walked across the UK, and as per the most recent one in Yorkshire result in the death of a rider due to being spooked by a dog. These instances are due to the dogs involved not being adequately socialised around horses or adequately recall trained.
Here at Sirius K9s we are as keen on our equine four legged friends as we are our 'Dog Star Furbabies' and understand that not all dog owners have access to horses to enable them to get their dogs used to seeing them in the field or being ridden.
'K9 Horse Desensitisation Workshop'
So watch this space as in September and October we shall be running some workshops based around increasing your bond with your dog to increase reliable recall, accompanied with a focus around desensitizing them to horses, as we have Dog Friendly horses here at Sirius K9s HQ.
The rider, in her 60s, died in hospital in Leeds as a result of her injuries, police say.
