A**l glands!! Two tiny little glands that can cause a whole lot of problems.
Look for signs that your dog is struggling, they are not always obvious. Don’t be afraid to lift your dogs tail to see if everything looks normal under there as you may notice swelling or inflammation. Increased fibre in the diet can help prevent them from filling up.
Here’s a story for you, as a new grad I was introduced to the world of expressing a**l glands, internally of course (that’s how vets do it) quite a satisfying job really as it gives instant relief for many dogs. Only on one occasion this set of glands was well rather full. Let’s just say as they literally exploded I should of kept my mouth very firmly shut 🤮🤣. Still the dog felt much better even if it did need to wash my face and mouth out multiple times. Needless to say I have never made the same mistake twice!!
