I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all those who celebrate this season of ‘Christmas’ and the ‘New Year’ best of times and best wishes. For me, the people who I once shared Christmas with regularly are no longer of this world, and with no partner or children to celebrate with, I’ve decided to not celebrate the Christmas Season myself. I do hope that all those celebrating are able to really appreciate their families, friends and the people they are lucky enough to have in their lives and get to spend time with. Really cherish what you have and don’t ever take anyone or anything for granted… and if everyone can do this then I’m sure that this Christmas Season will only be full of joy for all. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all my furry four legged friends who I look forward to seeing and get to spend time with nearly every day of the year, and please note: I will be taking Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off just to have a rest and recharge my batteries for a couple of days. I will be available at all other times over the Christmas and New Year periods it’s pretty much business as usual. 🐾👍🏻

It’s days like today that really take it out of you. It wasn’t just cloudy with heavy rain and strong winds, it was relentless heavy constant downpours all day today with gales too. Not great to be out in for any period of time, let alone all day since 8am. By the afternoon today every piece and layer of clothing was soaked through to my skin and I could no longer feel my feet or fingers. I could barely see from the constant downpour for hours thrashing against my face and eyes. A couple of trees came down today, one was a near miss and roads were flowing like rivers. Most of the dogs weren’t enjoying the elements today either and my usual dog stomping ground was virtually empty today… but I cracked on despite being one of the only walkers in my area out and about on my usual routes today. Days like this are thankfully few and far between but I can honestly say that today has been the worst bad weather day all year.

Such a lovely day today on my day off…. So good in fact that it’s been perfect weather for catching up, walking and stop...

Sandy will be making his way home soon. Just the framing process being completed today, and his immortalised images created in a retro photo-strip will be in his mummies arms again… Sandy passed away peacefully at the grand old age of 15 almost a couple of years ago. Using just a couple of existing photographic images and advanced digital art and photographic skill, Sandy’s image has been recreated in 4 beautiful poses capturing his true likeness, his essence and his character. Together with we’ve created a lasting memory of this beautiful boy for him to be remembered by at home for years to come 💕

8 years ago today I launched a dog walking business. I’ve walked some amazing dogs in the last 8 years. Some dogs are no longer of this earth. Some dogs were just a few weeks old and grew with me as my business grew month after month, year after year. Some dogs moved away. Some dogs I still walk today. I’ve never really advertised and usually work via recommendation. Starting my business gave me the time I needed to focus on myself and re-gave me the courage and belief in myself again to escape a very emotionally abusive and controlling relationship that I had felt trapped in. I adapted and carried on working and survived through (as well as post) a Covid pandemic when most other dog walking businesses at that time folded due to lack of demand. I’ve walked approximately an average of 48,000 miles with the furry gang over the last 8 years in all weathers and I can say with my hand on my heart that for the most part, I’ve practically enjoyed almost every single moment. I also didn’t let a very severe dog attack that left me with several stitches and muscle damage stop me. This week I was sadly affected by heat stroke that prevented me from doing some walks…. But I’m still standing at the age of 52 and I can honestly say that even I’m surprised and still wonder where I get the energy from each day, when I know that most people in their 20s don’t have the physical endurance to cover the mileage I cover most days. It’s been great to work with some wonderful dogs doing what I love and getting to work with animals each day. As jobs go, its not always easy and can come with its challenges, but I’ve managed for the most part to make what I do daily look easy to those who think all I do is “walk dogs”. There’s obviously so much more to it than “just walking dogs”, but I really have enjoyed the last 8 years. All the dogs in my care are like furry family members to me… a furry family that offer so much joy, even on the hardest and most gruelling of work days. I’ve had the time of my life 🙏🏻😉🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐾
