HR Sports Massage Massage is one of the oldest and most effective forms of treatment. To get the best possible result from treatments there is also a magnetopulse machine.
(11)

-Qualified and insured sports massage & equine sports massage therapist.
-Kinesiology Taping.
-PEMF & Phototherapy also available.
-48 hour cancellation policy- unless exceptional circumstances Equine sports massage (ESM) therapy is a hands-on complementary therapy, which uses professional massage techniques in a non-invasive way. The hands on approach means the therapist can explore muscles for a

reas of tightness, soreness or spasm. ESM can be beneficial to every horse, from the companion or family pony, right to the top competition horse. Some benefits of ESM are:
- Increases circulation
- Increases Range of Movement
- Releases any tight / tense areas.
- Improves overall health / performance.
- Enhances muscle tone.
- Increases performance. This is pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and phototherapy, which can help extreme areas of tightness in the horse’s muscles, however can also deliver treatment for many conditions such as:
- Soft tissue injuries
- Joint Disease
- Fracture repair. The pulsing magnetic fields help restore the normal balance in damaged cells; unbalanced cells can result in inflammation, thus pulsing magnetic fields provide an anti-inflammatory effect. This therapy also increases blood flow; fresh blood flow brings nutrients and oxygen which are essential for repair and normal function. Just a few conditions where pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and phototherapy have been used, with positive results, are:
- Windgalls
- Navicular
- Muscle spasms/sprains/bruising
- Check ligament injury
- Injury of superficial & deep digital flexor tendon
- Stifle injuries
- Osteoarthritis

I have been riding and around horses from a very young age and currently compete in affiliated showing. However in the past I have competed successfully in PPC, MGA and British Show jumping. This range of experience, along with my own interest in how horses move, is what led me into Equine Sports Massage. I have lots of experience with different types of horses, therefore you can be assured that I have a confident yet quiet and calming approach, and treat each horse individually. Treatment Prices:

-For a full body massage and treatment with the Magnetopulse machine and heat pad if required - £45 for one horse.

-For a specific area treatment with the Magnetopulse please enquire.

-Group discounts available for bookings of more than one horse, at the same location on the same day. Travel is included with 15 mile radius of my home in Maulden, Bedfordshire. For locations outside of this area there is a travel cost of 50p per mile (One way only). For any enquiries, more information, or to book a massage, please get in touch through one of the following options:

Behind again, but while I listen to the most awful hold music here we are!

The Latissimus Dorsi

💪 A superficial muscle, which is a common area of injury.

➡️ Origin: the supraspinous ligament from T3 and caudally to the thoracolumbar fascia.

As this muscle merges with the Supraspinous ligament it can hold secondary tension, due to injury / over compensation of other muscles of the spine / shoulder.

⬆️ Insertion: On the teres major tuberosity of the humerus, along with the teres major muscle, and is innervated by the thoracodorsal nerve.

🎥 Action: Retracts the limb and flex the shoulder, and can draw the trunk cranially when the limb is weight bearing.

❌️Signs / reasons there may be a problem with this muscle :
➡️ Saddle fit
➡️ Signs of discomfort when being brushed / having a saddle on
➡️ Girth issues, can affect the fascia as well.
➡️ Pressure points, girths with elastic on one side only.
➡️ Any badly fitting tack can also cause bruising within the muscle.

I’m already late but here goes!

The Trapezius muscle. This is a thin superficial muscle that can be divided into the Cervical Trapezius (which is in the neck) and the Thoracic Trapezius (which is over the withers).

⭐️Origin: Nuchal Ligament (C2)
⚡️ Insertion: Withers (T3). It also inserts along the spine of the scapula.

What the muscle does: The Cervical portion moves the scapula forward, whereas the Thoracic portion draws the scapula back.

❌Some signs this muscle may have pain or restriction:

🔥A visible dip just below withers behind the shoulder / a saddle that it too tight
🔥Loss of movement through the shoulders
🔥Loss of performance which could lead to lameness / other issues if not addressed
🔥Objections to the area being touched
🔥Tension, spasm, asymmetry, reduction in scapula control (more noticeable when jumping / doing lateral work)

Attempting to start 'Muscle Monday'... not sure how long it'll last but I'll give it a go😂

We'll start with...The Splenius Muscle.

🍭Part of the extensor chain, which makes up the horses top line.

➡️Origin: Spinous processes of the withers and Nuchal Ligament.

⬇️Insertion: Poll and C1-4.

❓️What the muscle does: Works to extend and elevate the neck.

❌️Some signs this muscle may have pain or restriction:

🔥Crooked / horse is wonky through the head and neck
🔥Resistance to flexion
🔥Sensitive around poll / to bridle.
🔥Low head posture.
🔥 Riders with heavy hands, particularly those that tend to 'see-saw' the horses mouth may affect this muscle, due to blocking the horses lateral flexion and natural movement.

Hello and welcome to HR Sports Massage, providing sports massage therapy for horse and human! Please find below a little information about sports massage.

*Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person or animal. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

*Sports massage is proven to release and reduce tension in muscles, improve circulation and encourage the removal of waste products such as lactic acid during high intensity activity and can help to relax the body. All of this helps promote recovery and reduces the chance of muscle injury.

*A sports massage can be beneficial to everyone / every horse, you don't have to be a top athlete to benefit! Massage is proven to:

*Increase and improve circulation
*Enhance muscle tone
*Relax muscle spasm
*Prevent and relieve adhesions
*Increase the range of movement

If you have any questions, or would like to book an appointment for your horse or yourself, please contact me through this page or via telephone (text preferably) on +44 7772 522363

Thank you and take care,

I caught the last 2/6 yawns on camera after Dolly's TMJ release! Always a lovely slobbery hand for me after doing this release too😂

Try opening your mouth really wide, then slowly moving your jaw wide left to right... this is what we want from the ponies to release the TMJ tension... warning though it might make you yawn (which is a good sign!).
