The Derbyshire School 4 Paws is an established dog training school run by Kim Hunt. Classes include pet obedience, puppy, the new Rally UK and many others.
Thought I would say something positive today ☺️
My soon to be 14years young Border Collie, Flare has become like a spring lamb. She is feeling so well, she has started running around after a period of becoming quite sedate.
Good food, helpful supplements and some brain training are helping. But….I think she knows that Spring is on the way.

A place has just become available on my Trick Training workshop at the Strutts centre in Belper on Thursday at 6.30-8pm
Any type of dog, age, breed welcome. No prior experience necessary.

Specialist Life Skills Classes For Dogs 6 months of age +
As your puppy matures into adulthood, they have lots of challenges facing them;
Raging hormones
Growing pains
How other dogs perceive them
To mention just a few.
My classes are design to help you help them to make that transition and work through their adolescence
A new course is starting on 30th January at 7pm.
Six dogs per group, indoors at the Strutts Centre in Belper.

Supporting a community resource.
A six week course of introducing training for you and your pup up to 24 weeks.
6 pups per group only.
Indoor Training
Positive and Reward based.
This class will enable you to understand training, enjoy your time with your puppy.
Aimed at preparing you for a lifetime of partnership with your new puppy.
Then you will be ready to go on to other classes of your choice.
As a qualified Behaviourist my classes are aimed at helping you to gain knowledge, a great foundation and building a super relationship.

Day 24 of my Training Advent Calendar. Almost there and your presents are appearing around the tree. Just remember your furry friends may decide to help themselves! Perhaps to chocolates or exciting fruit filled delights, thinking they are yummy. But could be dangerous to them. So keep your dogs safe and don’t leave them alone around that tree. Put away your mince pies and Christmas cakes and have a super time over the holiday. Santa is on his way! 🎅🏼

Just to mention that Mijit is completely blind. Demonstrating this is a great option for dogs of all ages and disabilities.

Not sure where my day14 post went. It was teaching Wait. At styles, in the car, at pavements, before eating, at doorways. Super useful to have.
Day 13 of my Training Advent Calendar. Teaching whistle recall is useful. Particularly for an older dog when they can’t always hear your voice as Flare demonstrates.
Day 12 of my Training Advent Calendar. Something really useful to have once your dogs are off lead, is distance control. Teaching them to stay put and in this case lie down can be a life saver. But as you see, it’s not always perfect. Someone had to be reminded what a down actually was. 🤣 you’ve got to love Fella though ☺️💙

So, when the dog’s understand about calm greetings, we can introduce a 3 Second Greeting with the other dogs. Nice and relaxed and then call them back to you for a reward.

Day 2 of my Advent Dog Training Calendar Today is calm greetings. Demonstrated by Fella and my friend Trish. We teach this social skill in class so your dogs understand how to politely greet people without jumping up. 😊
In my classes we teach the dogs to be calm and sit on their bottom to greet people. It’s a great social skill.
