🎄🐾 Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎅✨
Our adorable rescue cats are getting into the holiday spirit with their new favourite toys: a catnip Santa and a catnip Snowman! 🎁❤️ Watching them pounce, roll, and play brings so much joy and laughter to our day. It's heartwarming to see these little furballs enjoying their festive fun!
Wishing all of our adopters and supporters a fabulous festive season, and if you feel there's something missing, why not consider adopting a new furry friend in the New Year when we will have lots of other cats looking for their fur-ever homes.

Earlier this year, Mack was left abandoned when his elderly owners moved into a care home. Tragically, their family chose to shut him out of the only home he had ever known, leaving him alone in the bitter cold. Day after day, Mack could be found sitting by the door, crying to be let back in. Thankfully, a neighbour noticed his plight and contacted us at Berkshire Cat Centre.
When he first arrived at Berkshire Cat Centre, Mack was in rough shape. The cold weather had taken its toll, leaving him with a painfully sore and cracked nose. He was underweight, and it soon became clear why. Mack had a large lump on his tongue, likely caused by an allergic reaction. This swollen, infected lump made eating a struggle for him. But with the right care, including a course of antibiotics and steroids, Mack began to heal.
This year, we have seen the rate of abandoned cats and kittens increase by over 30% as a charity. We have launched this appeal to share insight into the kind of difficult situations we are facing, and to raise funds to help us support more cats like the Biscuit Kittens. Your support will provide the food, warmth and expert care that cats who we help need, until we find them a loving new home.
You could help us be there for every cat's journey. Every donation is hugely appreciated and will help other cats like Mack in the Berkshire area. Head over to our Just Giving to read more:

This loveable chunk is Freddie, who has been in our care since October. He is a big lad, very friendly and loves a fuss. He really likes to be cosy, and absolutely loves to curl up in his heated bed. 💕
Could you offer Freddie that loving home he so desperately seeks? 🤔😻

Good News Adoption Story. - The pasta thief.
Tiggy was adopted back in June this year. She came to us as a stray, after being taken care of, in the interim, by a lovely family with children. She was full of energy loved to play, tearing around after her fishing rod toy and chasing her toy mice. In her pen, she had a polar bear and a rat teddy that she loved to carry around with her.
Tiggy was looking for someone who was happy to play with her and keep her entertained. Eventually, Tiggy found that home, and it sounds like Tiggy has found a new way of keeping herself entertained – the Pasta Thief! Apparently, she likes to ‘hunt’ bags of pasta from the kitchen worktop and bring them up two flights of stairs to her owners at midnight.

Can you spot fake sellers of cats and kittens on social media? Our research with Dogs Trust shows that one in five pet ads on social media are potential scams and 80% don’t show young animals with their mother, which is concerning for their welfare.
We are urging social media platforms to enforce stricter policies and close loopholes that put people and animals at risk. Read our advice for getting cats and kittens online, here: http://spr.ly/BuyingACat

Our Story

Hello from all of us here at Newbury Adoption Centre. Our branch has been rescuing and re-homing cats since 1965. In 1994, thanks to the kindness of the branch's founder Mrs Irene Earnshaw, we were able to open a 42 pen Adoption Centre and continue the good work in her memory.

2014 saw the opening of Cats Protections first 'satellite centre' at Pets at Home in Newbury, which enabled us to achieve a record of 590 homes found for cats and kittens in our care.

Early 2016, due to the kindness and generosity of a supporter we were able to replace the 20+ year old cattery with more spacious cat pens and a purpose built Isolation unit.
