And just like that, my little venture has come to an end.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way; I am so grateful to you all. Thank you for trusting me with you fur babies and allowing me to be a part of their lives. You have no idea how much I love them and will miss them dearly.
The job has had its ups and it’s downs but I’m so glad I took the plunge and did it because I have met so many wonderful people and made many wonderful friends.
I thought I had done well getting through the day without crying but now as I’m sat writing this and looking at all the memories, I am in tears.
I hope I will still see your doggos around Berwick and give them all an extra hug from me tonight.
In the meantime, here’s some memories to close with….

‼️IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

It is with great sadness that I must announce the upcoming closure of The Canny Little Dog Walker. There are several factors which have led to this decision, both personal and financial.

I have no regrets in starting my business back in 2021 as I have met so many wonderful people and, of course, so many wonderful doggos. I’ll always carry a sense of pride that I took a leap and ran my own business from scratch but I would not have been able to do it without all of you and for that I cannot thank you enough.

My heart hurts at the thought of not seeing my dogs, whom I’ve made incredible bonds with, though I do hope I’ll still see them out and about.

Luckily, I have a couple of wonderful contacts that I can signpost you to who have agreed to take over my regulars and will be open to new clients…

Hey folks,
Just want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past few weeks. I’m aware there’s been a few occasions where I’ve needed to take time off last minute and walks have been cancelled at short notice. This has been due to circumstances surrounding either health problems of a family member or my own health. One of the down sides to working on my own is, unfortunately, I have no one to cover me when I need to take time off. Please know that I’ll only take time off if I really need to and I don’t make the decision to take days off lightly. So I thank you all again for bearing with me!

Christmas Eve - closed
Christmas Day - closed
Boxing Day - working until about lunch time
New Year’s Eve - normal hours
New Year’s Day - available if really needed (but not too early in the morning 🤣)
Between Christmas and new year I’ll be working as normal.

PLEASE READ!!
Please can all dogs be prepared for their walks wearing a collar with a tag as it is the law.
I did post an article a while back regarding this though admittedly I’ve dropped the ball when it comes to keeping on top of this! So here’s a reminder!
If you do not have a collar and tag for your dog, I may be forced to decline walks until they do so as I don’t fancy landing a fine on the spot (which I’ve heard has been happening) Even if you just have a collar, I have ordered some small card tags which I will be able to attach to their collars during their walk time but ideally proper tags would be good!
Also, it is best NOT to put your dogs name on the tag as this makes it much easier for dog thieves to lure your dog to them if they know the dogs name. Information on tags should consist of your surname, address and postcode and ideally a contact number!

Changes to service…
I will no longer be taking bookings for pet sitting as I will no longer be providing this service. I will still honour bookings that have been made for the rest of this year and the few that have booked in for next year but will not be taking any new bookings. There’s a number of reasons as to why I have made this decision. It is very tying and I’ve found it very difficult to be away from my own home comforts and my own animals. In addition, I am unable to leave Berwick to see my family. Then having to do all my regular walks on top of this has been exhausting. It’s a shame to give the service up as I know how much people need it but unfortunately I have too many commitments of my own to focus on.
I’m so grateful for those who have trusted me with their dogs and with their homes and it’s made me so happy to bring you all that relief so you can enjoy your holidays knowing your pets are in safe hands.
I hope you can all understand my reasons behind this decision.

I will also be bringing in changes to my usual daily structure. I am considering offering 1 hour walks only and no longer offering half hour walks as it makes more sense to try to take a select few dogs at a time and since most walks are 1 hour, this would make it easier for me to create 1 hour slots. Check ins will still remain half hour over a set lunchtime period which will be blocked out each day.

I have decided not to do walks on Monday and Tuesday due to the weather warnings.This is in the best interests of your dogs. I will, however, be more than happy to do check ins to let them out in the garden and spend time with them!

Yesterday I had Bella for the day and chaperoned her to her owners wedding for photographs.
We started the day with a nice long beach walk followed by some time relaxing in the garden before putting on her little wee dress!

Apologies for such short notice but I’ll be closed from tomorrow until I come back from my holidays meaning I’ll reopen on the 9th July. Since starting up my business back in September, I can probably count on 2 hands how many days I’ve actually had off and it’s finally caught up with me. I need some time to recharge my batteries as fatigue and stress is becoming overwhelming at the moment. I’m so sorry for those who I’ll be letting down over the next few days but I really need this right now so I can be the best version of myself for you and your doggos when I return.
