After a busy week of coaching and riding in (ahem!) "mixed" weather conditions, the sun came out for my Saturday morning sessions! 🌞 Everyone worked hard to develop and improve for their upcoming competitions.

A big "good luck" 🍀 to Charlotte Young and “Sprout” for their PetPlan Championships. They’ve shown some fantastic work in their training in preparation, including developing specific warm up plans and Focus Point checklists for both their warm up and their test.

I've also been overseeing some Youth Rider Skills Tests for some pony riders who are showing great promise for the future. Well done to everyone throughout the week, especially Chyna Savage for doing so well on Thursday at the PetPlan Championships in the Medium Music riding Anne Towe’s Stallion “Rio”.

I’m really looking forward to continuing working with you all through a busy winter of training and test practice.

Whatever you've been up to, I hope everyone has managed to enjoy some autumn sunshine.

⭐ Competition preparation tip ⭐
This week I had the pleasure of coaching WMDG's Team Quest riders. We had a test riding session in preparation for their Regional Championships tomorrow. They all worked really hard in the session on refining their tests.
And I took them through an exercise which YOU can use for your next competition (and for every competition!) too.
Each rider created their own Three Point Focus Checklist, defining clearly and simply what to focus on when getting ready, when in the warm up and when actually in the test itself. It's a really effective way to ensure you feel clear on your plan for the competition and to prevent feeling overwhelmed and nervous, too.

This weekend I had the privilege of coaching the North and West Youth riders while warming up for their tests at The Youth Home Nations Competition. I was very impressed how they all managed the pressure of team competition and focused on riding positively getting the most out of their horse or pony. There was a great atmosphere with everyone looking to help each other be the best they could be on the day. Their calm focused attitudes paid off with wonderful results and the younger riders gaining invaluable experience to help grow and develop for future competitions. Well done everyone and thank you British Dressage - North & West Region for having me coach for the weekend. 😊
