Most people would not want to leave their puppies too soon after their arrival into your home. However, life happens, and the odd emergency or pressing appointment means that you will have to seek an alternative care situation so that your puppy is not left alone.

If you know that you will have to spend time away from your puppy in the early stages, you should plan to introduce him or her to a reliable pet sitter, to get them accustomed to the situation when you cannot be there.

At Furry Best Friends we would arrange initial short 10 or 15 minute visits with your puppy, gradually increasing the amount of time. This approach is less of a shock, it also gives us a chance to bond with your puppy and make them pleased to see us and content in our company.

If you're going on holiday and leaving your pet, or you get called away for a few nights it's important to ensure your pet is cared for whilst you are away.

Do dogs get bored? Absolutely! A bored dog will make his own fun. And most likely in ways that don’t work for you. When left to their own devices, bored dogs will chew furniture and shoes, shred pillows, or even unroll your toilet paper. Whatever they can find to pass the time. And because you’re not there to stop them, it’s even more exciting.

Big messes when you get home are a clear sign of a dog with nothing to do.
