We aim to achieve the highest possible standards in patient and client care and continually invest in the latest equipment and staff training. Christmas hazards! 🎄🎁🎅🏻
Do you know how best to keep your pets safe over the festive period? Check out our list of top things to look out for to keep your pets out the vets

🔔 Small decorations & ornaments - keep these out of playful pets’ reach to avoid accidental ingestion or choking
🎄 Christmas tree needles - can cause mild irritation to the mouth & stomach, and in severe cases perforation of the intestines. If you go for real trees, consider one of the non-drop variety & make sure to vacuum up any needles
💡 Lights & wires - loose, trailing wires are sometimes irresistible to our small furry friends, such as rabbits, who just love to chew! Ensure any wires are out of reach & sight to avoid any shocking surprises or entanglement
🔥 Candles & flames - having the fire on may make for a cosy evening, but ensure you use guards to prevent pets getting too near. Additionally, keep lit candles out of pets’ reach, we’ve all seen those videos where a tail winds up getting a little too close!
🥧 Mince pies, christmas puddings & fruit cakes - containing raisins & sultanas, these treats can be toxic to our pets, as foods of the grape family cause severe renal (kidney) damage. If you suspect your pet has eaten these, contact your vet right away
🍫 Chocolate - contains theobromine, a substance our pets’ cannot process, making it toxic. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic! Nuts such as macadamia are also poisonous to dogs
🧅 Onions, garlic & leeks - these belong to the allium family, and are toxic to dogs both cooked & uncooked. Avoid feeding foods that include these ingredients, such as gravy & stuffing
🍾 Alcohol - is much more toxic to dogs than humans, and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, tremors, difficulty breathing, coma and even death!
🌺 Poisonous plants - poinsettia, holly, ivy, mistletoe and potpourri can all be toxic to pets if ingested
🔋 Small toys, batteries and silica gel packets - as well as being a chocking hazard, these have the potential to cause harm if ingested, via obstruction or toxicity. Ensure small toys & batteries are out of reach if you have a particularly inquisitive companion

Christmas Day - Closed (emergencies only)
Boxing Day - Urgent appointments only 10 - 11am
New Year’s Eve - Routine appointments 8:30am - 6pm
New Year’s Day - Urgent appointments only 10 - 11am

With the countdown well and truly underway, we will be holding our Christmas jumper week from 9th-13th December!🎄 Spot our staff sporting their seasonal sweaters around the practice this coming week and, just like we did in school, each participating team member will bring in a donation for charity 🎅🏻

This year we are supporting who provide care and support for pets and their owners in need. Blue Cross offers veterinary treatment, rehoming & behavioural services, bereavement support, pet food banks, and advice & education for owners 💙
We will have donation pots out on our reception desks until Christmas, should you wish to give a little something this season 🎁

We would love to get you (or more honestly your pets) involved, so please send us your favourite festive snaps of your pets… in a Christmas outfit, playing in the snow, or maybe pulling a cracker! 🐶🐱🐭🐹🐰🐔🐴🐍🦎

This gentle giant is still only a baby at 8 months old and we just couldn’t resist a cuddle!
