Lest we forget…

A day to remember the people who gave everything. We’re wearing our poppies with pride today in their honour - for our tomorrow, they gave their today…

As the leaves change and autumn sets in, it’s important to remember that laminitis doesn’t take a season off. Even though the weather is cooler, horses are still at risk.

Laminitis can be triggered by factors such as changes in diet and rich pastures. Stay vigilant and keep an eye out for any signs of discomfort in your horses.

What to watch for:
• Lameness
• Heat in the hooves
• Changes in behaviour

Prevention tips
1. Be mindful of rich pasture and sudden changes in diet
2. Keep up with regular trims and hoof health checks
3. Keep your horse’s weight in check to avoid additional stress on their hooves

Keeping your horse healthy through every season is key to preventing laminitis.

Last Friday evening me and Jim had our first outing together to take part in our first demo 'An introduction to the school of Legerete' with Mark.

⭐️ Jim was a star! ⭐️

We were able to give him a very positive experience building towards his furture career. Both of us gained confidence working infront of a audience in a different location.

I have backed him gradually over the past couple of months, focusing mainly on his ground work, building his strength and balance, through various exercises to create relaxation and help educate him on how he can use his body to enable him to carry a rider comfortably, without the use of force. All this without the use of any gadgets!

We have regular lessons with Mark (which Jim loves!) learning the principles of the school of Legerete and putting them into practice.

The plan for winter is to get him schooling confidently in all three paces and hacking out. He will be produced slowly with the furture in mind.

Far too much pressure is put on young horses to be performing before their bodies and minds have matured, often leading to behavioural and lameness issues in the long term. Jim will be produced with his welfare always coming first 🐴
