Glucogard has been formulated to balance a deficiency in nutrients that frequently leads to an insulin resistance, to circulatory disorders and soft tissue injuries in the hoof. It is recommended to supplement the daily feed ration of horses susceptible to laminitis with Glucogard.

Reducing the risk

Glucogard has been specifically designed to address the needs of horses suffering from the Equine Metabolic Syndrome or horses susceptible to laminitis. In this situation, it is important to increase the tissue’s responsiveness to insulin on the basis of a diet low in grain. According to the latest science findings, this considerably reduces the risk of laminitis.

The functional nutrients in Glucogard can provide valuable assistance in this respect. The sugar and insulin metabolism depends on B-vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, manganese and trivalent chromium. Cell-protective vital nutrients such as vitamin E and selenium contribute to the insulin molecule’s integrity and protect the hoof corium against inflammation, additionally assisted by nutrients derived from brewer’s yeast and special fodder herbs which support the insulin with the blood sugar control. Glucogard contains all mentioned active agents in biologically active form, including chromium as component of the brewer’s yeast and supplemented herbs.

Protecting the hoof complex

Circulatory disorders in the hoof complex are known to encourage the development of laminitis, accompanied by decomposition of lamellar horn and corium structures and powered by inflammatory activities.
