He’s still got it! 🩵
The naysayers will say it can’t be done, but here’s my high drive working dog stopping on game. Trained entirely using positive reinforcement 💪

‘IT IS MUCH EASIER TO BUILD A GOOD HABIT THAN BREAK A BAD ONE.’ 👏 👏
I firmly believe that finding a good, well run puppy class is one of the most important things you can do for your puppy’s development.
Raising a puppy is hard! Good trainers will teach you how dogs learn. They’ll make sure you aren’t taking on any bad information from other sources and will reassure you that your puppy’s behaviour is completely normal.
Classes are really good for correct socialisation. Teaching your puppy that other dogs aren’t a big deal and that they can focus on you around distractions. If you don’t take anything else from your puppy classes, this is a big one! ☝️
Please don’t head out on your puppy journey thinking you can do it all by yourself. Waiting until a puppy is 6-12 months old before seeking out help from a trainer when bad habits have already started to form and become an issue is something I see very often.
Creating good habits and learning how you can help prevent your puppy from making undesirable decisions is key 🔑
Not to mention it is fun and rewarding to see your puppy grow and have that support there when you need it most 💜

Hands up if you can walk your dog for hours and they still won’t be tired 🙋🏼♀️
Your dog’s genetics mean that each breed is hardwired to do a different job. It’s literally why they were made.
Collies were made to herd, spaniels were made to sniff, labradors were made to retrieve, greyhounds were made to chase and terriers were made to dig and bark! 🐶
If we don’t give our dogs the opportunity to use these natural behaviours, no amount of exercise will leave your dog mentally satisfied and able to switch off 😴
How much do you know about your dog’s breeding and what comes naturally to them? And how can we help our dogs lead more fulfilled lives? 🤔
Does your dog love to sniff? Take them on ‘sniffy walks’. Hide balls or dummies in long grass and encourage them to use their nose to ‘find it’ 🎾
Does your dog love to chase? Take a long handled tuggy toy out on a walk and pull it along the ground to encourage them to chase. Use the toy as a reward for a great recall 🐾
Does your dog love to dig holes? Let them! A little mud never did anyone any harm and it means your dog is less likely to find more inappropriate places to dig, like your flower beds! 🌸
Does your dog love to retrieve and carry things? Take a ball with you for your dog to carry. Play retrieve games. Drop balls as you are walking without your dog seeing and send them back to retrieve them. Practice retrieves over safe objects, fallen trees etc.
Let’s make our walks more stimulating for our dogs 🐶

There’s a reason why you see very little of our dog walks posted on social media. Our dog walks aren’t about trying to get everyone to sit for a photo or taking pretty looking videos (unless it’s to show how crazy the weather is 😂). Our dog walks are about the well-being and enjoyment of your dogs.
Please be aware of who you are allowing to walk your dogs. I can think of over 5 new dog walkers who have popped up in the last couple of weeks, charging next to nothing and with no more experience other then owning a dog themselves. Some are even under the age of 18!
I’ve personally experienced unprofessional behaviour from dog walkers and witnessed dogs being treated in ways I wouldn’t be happy with my own dogs being treated.
Dogs should be treated fairly and should be under control at all times. We may not be the cheapest walker in the area but your dogs are our priority and we take that responsibility very seriously 🩷

A quick reminder to run a mile from any ‘trainer’ talking about becoming the ‘alpha’ of your dog or ‘leader of the pack’. The alpha theory has been widely debunked and these trainers probably haven’t taken part in any education in the last 15 years.
In the video is Raven my working gundog recalling off pheasant scent. Trained entirely through positive reinforcement. I am not his ‘alpha’ 😂

Our Monday night puppies practising their ‘nose touch’. Great for encouraging focus and a part of our ‘co-operative care’, helping our puppies to get used to being handled ❤️
How important is it to you for your dog to be able to settle and relax in lots of different environments?
Dogs who are taught early on to be able to switch off in busy environments are less likely to develop reactivity or the dreaded FOMO!
Does your dog struggle to focus on you when there are other distractions? ✅
Can you stop and sit down for a coffee, or do they bark and whine out of frustration? ❌
Here you can see on our most recent camping trip, Luna and Raven have settled in the middle of a busy campsite where there are children and other dogs running about. Luna especially can lean towards more reactive tendencies if not managed appropriately, so this is a massive win 🏆
We cover calmness and how to teach your dog to settle in all our group classes as a really important foundation life skill 👍
