Our Penny! 😍
Penelope recently joined to neaten up some manners outside. She was a tad loopy on her lead 🤣🫢
Penny is a drivey little thing, her main struggle was winding herself up on the lead & then frustration sets in & boom 💥 reactivity
We set her off on her basic loose lead skills & she loved it!
She is such a worky little girl, absolute joy to be around.
Our mini trainer Taime working the big boys this evening 🫶🏻
Sheena is a punk rocker 😅 🎶
This is our Sheena. She’s joined us to work on some pretty loud reactivity issues! 🫣
Lead pulling & shouting. This girl is an absolute sweetie, it’s all frustration based. She’s a drivey lil thing & way too forward in her attempts to play 🤣
Anywho, today her mum did her so proud & had a bit of a breakthrough!
Will group classes alone fix her reactivity completely? Nope - and anyone who says it will is a liar.
Will group classes enable her mum to build confidence, technique & allow some repetition to build neutrality? Yes
Will this COMBINED with one to one get them to their end goal? Absolutely
The rest is done through one to one. This is just a filler, a stepping stone toward the end goal 🫶🏻
The biggest part of off lead training isn’t the recall!
The biggest part is teaching your dog not to approach other dogs/people. It’s teaching them to respect others space. If your dog is off lead it must be able to coexist around others without running up to them. It must be able to mind its own business!
The recall itself is only a small amount of the prep.
Our website is down, but don’t worry our admin team is on it..
“You’re so lucky”
Truth is there’s no luck involved. This lad came as a behaviour mod case and is now headed full force into sports 😆
How? Because every second of spare time I’ve had over the last 3 months has gone into him. When I’ve been tired, when I’ve had fractured knuckles, in the pissing down rain. No rest. No break. Every little speck of free time has been his.
Would it have been easier to get a fresh puppy? Yep!
Would it have been simpler? Yep! 🤣
But the point is - if you want something enough you get up and do it. Sitting around sulking that your dog isn’t upto scratch doesn’t fix it.
Our Ned & Doulan 🥰
Short and sweet, nothing major with these two lads. They both needed some neatening up on the lead. As usual with multiples it’s best to start them separate & then gradually bring them back together once they understand the system.
Doulan is a laid back older gent, Ned is a lively youngster so slight differences. Yes Ned did steal my heart 😂 absolutely fantastic boy.
Way to go guys, we will miss you! 🐾
Otis Driftwood out here living his best life 🙌🏻
Otis is 10months old now (I don’t know where that year went??) but anyway, he’s the most confident, fiery, outgoing bean. Why? Because I didn’t hold onto the traumatic start. A lot of people use a rough start as a reason to why their dog is nervous, reactive, aggressive etc - but it’s not. The likelihood is the dog was coddled because the human felt bad.
Dogs don’t work the same as us. Otis is very much over it. I’m not - but do I put that on him? No.
He is treat the same as the other kids, he’s trained, he takes part in sports, he walks politely on his lead, he has off lead freedom. He weighs 1kg and has 3 legs, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have standards to follow. 🐾
Otto’s competition heel - week 12 🫶🏻
Focused heeling like this is arguably one of the most tedious, time consuming things to teach 😂 it’s boring & painful until all of a sudden it isn’t 🤣
This type of heel is unnecessary for most pets, and behaviour modification wise it’s not something we’d use. Behaviour comes before the fancy stuff, always
This has been taught completely separate to his basic manners - but now that he’s mostly good, it’s starting to come together ⭐️
Our Enzo! 😍
Enzo has just started with us. He’s a lovely drivey cocker, absolutely fantastic lil lad. However he’s been putting his energy into things like lead pulling, barking & chasing 🤣 typical dog stuff, but not fun for humans.
Because these behaviours are self reinforcing, he’s essentially been rewarding his own less than ideal behaviours for some time. To counter this we’ve set him off on structured walking. Getting rid of the lead pulling & teaching him to pay more attention to his mum.
These clips are from lesson number 1! And what a fantastic start he’s made. We can’t wait to see how he progresses 🖤
Doulan is the other half of our kelpie duo & has also joined to neaten up his lead skills 🥰
Now that they both have a consistent loose lead, & understand their foundations, next week both boys will be on lesson together 👏🏻
Shout out to Adam for lending us Pepper 🐾
Our Ned 😍
I absolutely love this dog. I would have an army of Neds 😂
Ned joined us to work on his lead skills, along with his brother. As always with multiples, you must work them individually to begin with.
Ned has been following our structured walking system, look at his progress so far 🙌🏻 this was only his 2nd lesson! 🥰
Absolute superstar 👏🏻
Looking for a hall/function room/horse arena to hire a couple nights a week, to practice freestyle routines with some of the cult
Must allow doggos 🐶 & must be indoors
Any ideas I’ve called almost everywhere in Blackpool 😭
Grown adults couldn’t walk this dog in a basic loose lead position when they gave him up, now he’s got a child competition heeling him 😂👏🏻
Otto is only on his 8th week with us.
So proud of our mini trainer Taime, this is his first go at this style of heel with a big dog! 😍
This is what off lead should look like. If you dog can’t do this, it shouldn’t be off lead in public. 👀
Recall is only a SMALL part of off lead training. The majority of it, is teaching dogs to be neutral to dogs/wildlife/people etc. teaching them to move past & around things, not toward them.
The dog should understand it must not approach others. I don’t care if its “friendly”. Once the dog knows that running round greeting everything is not an option, the recall part comes easy.
All of these dogs have worked their way up from being reactive to different things, all of their foundations began on lead! And now look 😍
Bittersweet as they no longer need us 🤣 but super proud 🖤
Terrible footage cos it was chaos but this woman in Stanley park, her GSD ran at & attacked the geese. Just days after yet another swan has been killed.
No control over it yet it was off lead.
Is this to be reported to dog warden or council?
The tail wagging as she goes 😂
Way to go Pepper & co 😍
Absolutely worked their asses off for this 👌🏻
We couldn’t be prouder 🖤
Pepper! Could you please stop showing off, you’re making the rest of us look bad 😂👏🏻🎉
We’re all going off lead this summer 😆
Our Norman has just started the switch into hands free heeling & recall! 👏🏻
Can you believe he’s only 10 months old 🥺
Otto 😍
Otto arrived with a list of issues. However, all of these issues stem from the same place. 0 impulse control, a lack of boundaries/structure & not enough stimulation. 🤦🏻♀️
When you buy a puppy you have to start putting things in place that you’re going to expect from them once they’re older/bigger. You can’t let the puppy do whatever it wants & then suddenly act shocked that you have an out of control hooligan 😬
Truth is they don’t “grow out of it”, you have to show them what you expect from them.
Anyway their loss is my gain so welcome home my love 🥰 he’s been absolutely fantastic from tweaking his day to day lifestyle, working him & holding him accountable for absolutely everything. 👌🏻
The boys have been back! 😎
I’ve been kidnapping my favourite kids for some adventures. Day training is a great way to maintain what they’ve achieved & keep them on track 🖤
Taime has put our Reba through her paces today! 😍
Reba regularly joins us for day training, to keep her on track & keep her stimulated. Taime took over today going through some hands free heeling, turns, sits & downs! 👌🏻
