I'm delighted to have gained full membership to the Professional Dog Walkers Association.

Dog walking is such a fast growing industry for small businesses but is still unregulated. The PDWA was created with the aim of setting industry standards by implementing professional and ethical values.

They assess each dog walker that applies for membership on their values and ethics, their knowledge of canine body language, and their knowledge on how to handle certain situations professionally. All while working with care and consideration towards the dogs they're looking after and advocating for the use of kind methodology and equipment.

This is gorgeous Dolly, who I've been doing some pet sitting for.

She's a Jagdterrier whose lovely guardians are fostering at the moment.
She's had a bit of a rough past and a couple of different homes throughout her short life. She had only been in her foster home a couple of weeks when I met her, so understandably, she was pretty anxious around new people. However, through a lot of treats and playing with her favourite toys, we became fast friends, and she settled down nicely.

I provide pet sitting and drop-in services. These will take place in the dogs home to ensure they're in a familiar and comfortable environment.

This is Paddy! He's a beautiful, distinguished gentleman at almost 12 years old. He loves short walks, lots of cuddles and barking at me for treats (see last picture).

If you've got a dog who isn't as interested in big walks anymore or can't go long distances because of medical reasons, I also offer Care Visits.

This can include shorter walks if your dog is up for it. As well as hanging out with them for a while, giving them lots of attention, and playing low impact mentally enriching games to keep them happy and occupied while you're out

Mental enrichment is just as important for dogs as physical exercise is, and can be just as tiring for them.

I've been working with these two boys for a few months now. They're two gorgeous, mixed breed dogs that were found as strays in Spain, before being rescued and brought over here.
They were very shy when I first met them as they're still wary of strangers, but it didn't take long for their loving, goofy and playful nature's to show.
Now they're always excited for our walks and to go adventuring together.

Hello! My name's Kat and this is my dog walking page. I've been walking dogs professionally for a little over a year now, I'm fully insured, canine first aid certified, and DBS checked.

I've passed a Professional Dog Walking course through the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, and I'm currently studying their Level 3 Learning, Motivation and Reinforcement Dog Behaviour course. With the hopes to go on and work in dog training and behaviour in the future.

Now that the technical stuff is out of the way, let's get down to why I'm really here.
Ten years ago I walked into Dogs Trust and fell in love with a young adolescent Staffy named Tye, and life as I knew it was over.
I had wanted my own dog for years but never intended to actually work with them. However, through having a rescue dog, I realised very quickly that it was a "special" kind of experience. And through having a bully 'type' dog I realised even quicker how misunderstood they were.
I thought, if I'm going through this, other people must be as well.
So, that was it. I decided I had to do all I could to help these beautiful dogs and any other dogs that needed me - as well as their poor, long-suffering owners!

Now, I'm finally at a point in life where I can really focus on this type of work after spending the last year gaining some amazing work experience.
I pride myself on being kind and gentle always. Only using positive, force free methods while working with dogs and continuously studying and developing my skills.
