Hat off to Jamie Penrith for his incredible efforts in educating those new and old in the dog training world. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of ignorance, ego, and bias in this arena. I'm glad to see the BBC shining a light on this important issue. It may be contentious, but it’s essential to discuss. Today was the day of the Hungarian Vizsla's 🐕❤️ This very handsome boy will be joining in on the shananigans with Winnie & Friends Dog Walking. Looking forward to our days together Lanskey. Lucy was a little shy to begin with, but soon found her playful side. 🐾💚🧡

🌟🥳 Wow, I can hardly believe it—Winnie & Friends Dog Walking has officially been in business for over a year! 🙏🏼💗🐾 It feels like just yesterday that I took that leap of faith, and what a journey it has been!

I am incredibly grateful for the amazing customers who have supported me from the very beginning. Your trust in me to care for your dogs means the world, and I cherish each waggy tail I get to spend time with. 🐶💖

Thank you for being a part of this adventure and for allowing me to do what I love every day. Here’s to many more joyful walks together! 🙏🏼🥰

It will soon be a year since these two beauts found their forever home with Julie Minter & Martin Copland. Rehomed from the streets of Turkey. They are not the same dogs a year on. They've settled into domestic life so well. Very happy and content ❤️🙏🏼⭐

Where does the time go?

This time last week, I had the pleasure of shadowing Aggression Specialist and renowned Dog Reactivity Expert Pamela Dempsey at Impact Behaviour. Despite the relentless rain, clients arrived with their dogs for aggression assessments.

I learned a lot throughout the day. Pamela's knowledge and expertise are profound, and I feel privileged to have spent time with her and her pack. This experience certainly deepened my understanding of dog behavior, particularly regarding various forms of aggression.

There needs to be a culture shift in how people address fear in dogs.

Too few people don’t understand how confidence and resilience are built in an animal that cannot speak or be spoken to. An animal that lives to better it’s own state of affairs, based on experience.

You don’t overcome a fear of waves by being fed ice cream at the seaside.
Do you?

Any parent who has taken a baby into the sea will know.

You get wet. And you learn that ‘getting wet’ is the worst that happens.

Then you repeat that experience, gradually increasing the depth, the size of the waves and varying the location.

Fear becomes fun. Avoidance becomes approach or acceptance.

You deal with unnecessary, unhealthy fear by making nothing of it, because there is nothing to make of it.

The new experiences provide the animal with new information.

That information challenges and disconfirms pre-existing expectancies and so allows the animal to adjust their expectations.
Those adjusted expectations allow the animal to make new, more constructive choices.
Making those choices and realising that previous held fears were unfounded, kills those fears.

And sows the seeds for a far more confident future.

Then we all eat ice cream after a splash in the sea!!
